7. Music & Lyrics: Chet Powers
Get Together

Love is but a song we sing
and fear's the way we die,
You can make the mountains ring
or make the angels cry,
Tho' the bird is on the wing
and you may not know why.

C'mon people, now
smile on your brother,
ev'ry-body get together,
try to love one another right now.

Some will come and some will go
and we shall surely pass
When the one that left us here
returns for us at last
We are but a moments sunlight
fading in the grass.

C'mon people, now
smile on your brother,
ev'ry-body get together,
try to love one another right now.

If you hear the song I sing
you will understand
You hold the key to love and fear
in your trembling hand
Just one key unlocks them both,
it's there at your command.

C'mon people, now
smile on your brother,
ev'ry-body get together,
try to love one another right now.

10. Old school choices
have to include "Tighten Up" by Archie Bell and the Drells.

"Hi, everybody! We're Archie Bell and the Drells, from Houston, Texas. We don't only sing, but we can dance just as good as we walk!"

I always liked "Just Got Lucky" by the Joboxers as a happy pop song also.

Oh heck, while we're at it, why not include "Chalkhills and Children" by XTC?

We really need a poll with 10,000 choices.

32. Other
"The Coast" by Paul Simon. Something about that guitar riff always makes me smile and then there are the Doo Wops that just make it the perfect song to get me happy. It is funny, I refer to it as my happy song because it always makes me smile even if the lyrics are not the happiest.

37. "This must be the PLace(Naive Melody)" Talking Heads
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 07:29 PM by FarceOfNature
Home is where I want to be
Pick me up and turn me round
I feel numb - born with a weak heart
I guess I must be having fun
The less we say about it the better
Make it up as we go along
Feet on the ground
Head in the sky
It's ok I know nothing's wrong . . nothing

Hi yo I got plenty of time
Hi yo you got light in your eyes
And you're standing here beside me
I love the passing of time
Never for money
Always for love
Cover up and say goodnight . . . say goodnight

Home - is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home - she lifted up her wings
Guess that this must be the place
I can't tell one from another
Did I find you, or you find me?
There was a time Before we were born
If someone asks, this where I'll be . . . where I'll be

Hi yo We drift in and out
Hi yo sing into my mouth
Out of all those kinds of people
You got a face with a view
I'm just an animal looking for a home
Share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me till my heart stops
Love me till I'm dead
Eyes that light up, eyes look through you
Cover up the blank spots
Hit me on the head Ah ooh
