My boss always comes to my desk and asks me about politics... but he seems to just want to have an argument. We just went round and round about the reason the healthcare system is so screwed up. He listens to right wing radio and tells me their talking points then I have to explain how it's all a bunch of crap.

I guess the silver lining is that he seems to come away from it being more sympathetic to my point of view. Still, it's exhausting.

1. Been there, done that-

only MY boss WASN'T interested in MY opinion-he was always trying to shout me down with his OWN opinion; one of those college boys who let it go to their heads-I don't work for that asshole anymore; when the chips were down, he'd gladly let you twist in the wind!

2. I have one customer who comes into the restaurant periodically...

and spouts right-wing ideology. He listens to friggin Rush. He sits at a table with a friend & speaks loudly.

He knows I'm a liberal (have my K/E bumper sticker prominently displayed where the customers can see)... he does it just to irritate me & have come close to strangling him on several occasions.

But there are others who eat here that balance it out. Last night I met a nice local cowboy who hates * .

And he knows it, which is why he feels free to stop by and pollute my ears with right wing claptrap!

5. Get a cheap tape recorder (small one)

Every time he comes around, start recording.

When he decides to "discipline you" for whatever RW reason, haul out the tapes before the court and tell them that he made the workplace hostile.

If he really starts being a prick, sue.

9. Comes from years of being harassed by the "populars" in school

Now, I'm making a decent living, have had steady employment for over 19 years straight (more if you factor in when I started actually working), have a wonderful wife (who keeps a lid on finances, so she wouldn't like me blowing my money on DU - unfortunately).

I've seen some of my "nemeses" (sp?), and enough of them are alkies. Main tormenter got his ass in line via the military. I think he's afraid to say hello to me, even though I "buried the hatchet" at our five-year class reunion. (had our 20 year in 01).

Anyway, we now have the technology and I have enough of the money to really rip those a-holes apart, just wayyyy too late.

(besides, what I wouldn't have done for one of those wireless spy cams as a horney teen, but that's another story - I was a virgin 'till my wedding day, not exactly by my choice . . .)

7. One good thing about being in the military

Is that we usually keep politics out of a discussion.

When we do discuss it, it's usually among people who agree.

Needless to say, a lot of us are looking for a change come November

8. Some asshole in my department sent an e-mail to us all with this

picture comparing Tereza Heinz-Kerry to Tootsie (Dustin Hoffman) - I replied - did you mean to send this to ME? - he didn't get it. That shit is not ok on so many levels!

I'm sorry - that must be exhausting. Its better than not being allowed to talk about it tho!

10. I feel your pain

There's a guy that works next door to my job that's a total wingnut. He started up when we were both on a smoke break one day. It didn't take long for me to let him know where I stood. A couple weeks later, he asked me how one could possibly be a liberal. I told him it wasn't easy, but if you just start thinking for yourself instead of letting preachers, AM radio nuts and Faux News tell you what to think, you're well on your way. I thought he was going to swallow his tongue.
