12. Neither can I. I have been that way since I
was a child, but conventional wisdom tells you that "it's the most important meal of the day."

I have tried choking something down from time to time, but it just doesn't work for me.

14. You've probably heard the 'most important meal' thing too many times
to count, but really, not eating first thing does slow your metabolism down.

It's fine if you're not on a diet, but anyone dieting should know that they really should eat first thing in the morning without fail.

I love oatmeal and oatbran too.

I like brown sugar and cinnamon, butter and/or margarine and raisins in my hot cereal which I usually cook using half milk/half water.

Sometimes I'll have hot cereal for dinner and I'll put cheese in it.

15. Americans eat such wimpy breakfasts....
A fairly typical Irish breakfast:

-Sausages
-Bacon
-Ham
-Kippers
-Fried potatoes
-Fried or sliced tomatoes
-Fried mushrooms
-Eggs
-Hot cereal
-Toast, w/butter and jam/jelly/marmalade
-Milk
-Tea
-Juice

How most Americans keep from fainting from hunger before lunch escapes me...

:P

I don't have it too often though.

Cheese omelet with mushrooms and salsa. Bacon or sausage. Peanut butter on toast

Sometimes instead of the cheese omelet and peanut butter on toast, I'll have an omelet with peanut butter and jelly accompanied by a couple of buttered pancakes, syrup optional.

51. Cheesy Scrambled Eggs
Scramble up 6 eggs in a large microwave casserole dish with a lid, make sure you melt some margarine or butter in the dish first. Then I add about 1/4 milk to that, microwave for 4 minutes with lid on. Stir after 4 minutes.
You can add chopped ham, mushrooms, onions, green pepper, asparagus, chopped tomatoes, salt and pepper - whatever your favorite is, and microwave for 3 minutes this time, with lid on still. After 3 minutes, stir again and then I usually add about 3-4 slices of American cheese on top and microwave for another 2-3 minutes, again with lid on. We love cheesy eggs at our house!!! Our other favorite is waffles with toppings to choose from like: berries, m & m's, nuts, gummi bears, chocolate chips, sprinkles, powdered sugar, whipped cream, etc... and sausage links or bacon.

73. I love omelettes, but also don't eat in the morning
I try not to even face the morning. But I do love breakfast, so it's too bad. Eggs of any sort and hash brown.:9

76. Did anyone else grow up eating fish for breakfast?

My mother often fixed salt water mackerel for breakfast, fried potatoes on the side. Or fish roe cakes. Yummy.

83. Weekdays and weekends
are different. During the week, it's a mix of fresh fruits, yoghurt and/or curd, soy milk, walnuts, coconut and granola. On the weekend, it's usually some tasty whole-grain rolls with cheese, vegetable spread, spicy curd and some salad, spring onions, carrots, cucumbers or radish, one egg, finally a delicious fresh croissant with orange marmalade (with big pieces of orange peel) and sour cream or curd.

Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 05:23 PM by baldguy
Keeps me reg'ler.

Sometimes I'll get a donut & more coffee at Tim Horton's on the way too work.

Then I'll get another cup of coffee at work.

86. Budweiser! Breakfast of Champions!
If I can't have that, and there's a Waffle House nearby, my second choice is cheesy eggs, bacon, grits, raisin toast (with apple butter), orange juice, and some of the World's Best Coffee (as it's advertised).

Then I'll go home and have a Budwieser. And maybe take a short nap.

A packet of cheese grits, two Morningstar Farms link sausages, and a thin slice of rye bread with a few squirts of " I can't believe it's not butter." About 250 delicious calories.
