It runs so much faster than Internet Explorer I'm not sure but I think that I like it.

5. How do you do that?
Do I need to keep clicking on Mozilla on my desktop or can I do it right from the page that I am on.

4. Give it some time
You'll get used to it. It's nice. The only thing I hate is designers who don't write browser independent code. So there will still be some sites that don't render properly in Mozilla.

6. I can't think of a single con
and I've been running it for about a year now. My vision isn't all that good anymore, and I like the fact that I can zoom a page by simply hitting <CTRL> and the <+> key (or the <-> key to zoom smaller). Lean and mean.

7. Tabbed browsing.
It'll change your life. Really.

Typical DU browsing session for me...
  1. Go to latest discussions page http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss
  2. Scroll down looking for interesting topic
  3. Right click on interesting topic, choose 'Open link in new tab'
  4. Repeat steps 2 & 3, clicking on next page of discussions if necessary until interesting topics exhausted
  5. Enjoy several (minutes|hours) of DU browsing pleasure

Con: You'll probably need to reinstall the plugins you use most such as Real Player, Flash, etc.

10. pro: better design / con: memory leak, multiple download bug
THe design on both Netscape and Firefox is clearly better. Tabbed browsing, etc. Also, the Calender is MUCH simpler than Outlook.

However, there is some sort of memory leak on Firefox, it would appear.

Also, in firefox .9, but not .8, there seemed to be a logjam on more than 4 simultaneous downloading tabbed pages.

Mozilla has a way to go on bug fixes, although design is better than IE.

I was using Firefox .8, which worked OK, but after the bugs of 0.9, I switched back to Netscape 7.1

11. My list:
Pro:
-Tabbed web browsing... sooo nice, you have to use it to believe it.
-not hacked up the wazoo, 1000 batting average pop up blocker
-Much better download window interface, 1 for all dloads, can have autosave, just rightclick...save, no directory selecting for each and every file.
-no constantly having to update
-search engine bar, can pick your engine of choice
-Good choice of skins
-all sorts of little goodies
Con
-some things still dont work with Mozilla, like certain (very few) webpages that can only be opened in IE.
-have to redownload flash

20. Instead of opening in a new window,
in mozilla you can opt to open in a new tab, at the top you will have a list of all the "tabs", so you can switch between webpages, which are represented as tabs... and its all in one browser window. ctrl+click, or right click->open new tab will do this. This cuts down on the # of open windows, each tab works independently of another, so hitting back/foward/refresh/stop in one page doesnt effect the other tabbed ones.

18. i was going to ask a question along those lines i'm not trying to
jack your thread, but right now i am running mozilla 1.7 and the latest firefox...i also have (ugh) aol...the thing i like about (ugh) aol is the proxy server thinger. i HATE seeing my IP add when i look at a web page where i have admin sign on

but my question was, mozilla or firefox. i like them both. i have only had one crash and a couple of 'don't recognize you' incidents with mozilla as opposed to many wth aol.

i also have IE, which i never use, for security reasons and m/s thinking it's ok if i have popups. except to download xp patches

21. For the ones that say
some sites still don't render correctly, while true, you can download an extension that allows you to view pages in IE and then switch back to Firefox or Mozilla very quickly.

23. Nobody's mentioned the most important part.
Mozilla and Firefox have one specific feature that makes it far superior to IE. They don't run ActiveX scripts and controls. All those websites that surreptitiously install unremovable software onto your computer exploit ActiveX...IE basically lets any website install whatever it wants onto your hard drive without asking. Mozilla and Firefox are immune.

Beyond that, Mozilla products are W3C compliant, which IE is not. When a page doesn't render properly, it's the fault of the page's writers, not Mozilla. Mozilla is faster (and continues to get faster), bugs are frequently patched, the pop-up controls work wonders...there's no downside.

I'd personally recommend Firefox over Mozilla. It's smaller, lighter, and faster. Mozilla has tons of features that most people know nothing about, or have no interest in.

25. thanks
i thought i was a little more firefox than mozilla...i quit ie before my last reformat...my computer was so messed up by junk i assume came through ie. i never let it out, unless we have to security patch...again

also i wrote fair about their page not rendering properly and got no answer...my workaround? copy and paste into word. not a monster problem.
