Is it just me - I'm bugged when they make a big deal over Mary Lou Retton

I mean, it was 1984 and many of the Eastern European powerhouses including the Soviets, were not at the event. Plus Mary Lou had home field advantage with the event being in Los Angeles.

Where is Shannon Miller, she won alot of medals and there wasn't any boycotts

IMHO, it was do-or-die time and she stuck the landing to win the gold. People eat that shit up like candy. I have to agree that the absence of the Soviets took a little fire from her medal win, but she DID accomplish an immense physical feat.

But, I may be biased. She's a fellow West Virginian. They named a street in her hometown after her.

9. I feel your pain but

she's actually a decent individual. Years ago she lived in the condos across the street from me in Houston and I always got a good laugh watching her dogs walk her. She did a few promotional gigs with a company I worked for and her peppy demeanor is actually rather engaging......but a little goes a long way. }(
