Just got back from Iceland, ask me anything.
I spent most of my time in Reykjavik.

1. What is the music scene like?
I have heard that it is wonderful. But I have heard that the whole country is pretty wonderful, too.

I liked the stuff I heard. Do you recommend them? I'm outta the loop on most music these day.

15. I'm otta the loop, too.
But I like Sigur Ros allot.

Reykjavík-based noise quartet Sigur Rós are the biggest band in their native Iceland, which should say much, much more about the collective insanity of that earthquake-ridden, blizzard-beaten crag of an island than anything to do with Sigur Rós's sound.

11. It never got above...
It never got above 55 degrees. When the wind blew it was like a fucking hurricane. There were short rain showers too but everything changed pretty fast. You could expect anything but a hot spell.

13. I'm in the Navy reserve...
I'm in the Navy reserve and I went there to work for the Media Center on the NATO base. We did a public affairs piece for the base television station.

They were nice polite people who were easy to engage in conversation. Almost everyone speaks English quite well. They have GREAT coffee houses too!

4. What was it like?
I have only been to the Reykjavik airport on a layover, but never spent time in the city itself.

What did you think? Tell us more. Are they accepting political dissidents?

10. I loved Reykjavik...
I loved Reykjavik. Very nice small city with a real personality. I was in Singapore last year and was impressed with how it ran, technology, multicultural, etc. but it seemed to be a very uptight place. Reykjavik is laid back but serious enough to function well.
As far a anything political, I can't really say. I was working for the Navy at the NATO base and I keep my liberal profile pretty low these days, never know what just might turn up by accident in my urine sample!
