Homemade, just juiced, VEGGIE juice.
:puke:

I should have stuck w/ the fruit!

Sheesus! Must...force...self....to drink...it....:puke:

I guess it's not *that* bad - but V8, it ain't!

2 roma tomatoes, 1 stalk celery, a handful of parsley, a handful of spinach, 1 carrot, and 1 small beet.

I told myself after receiving this juicer that I would drink EVERYTHING that came out if it - even if it tasted like ass. Guess this here's my test...

My only comfort is I know it's damned good for me.

:puke:

Any DUer juicers out there w/ recipes for GOOD veggie juice?

1. As much as I love veggies, I think all veggie juice is pretty nasty
I think V8 is an abomination on many levels.

Sorry, I'm no help. :-)

3. I do, at least, really like V8.

But ewwwwwww - I think one problem I'm having is TOO MUCH parsley.

Dunno - it's a really pretty shade of MAGENTA tho....

lol

I don't know if it's safe to eat anything that's magenta colored... unless it's a rasberry :-)

I would rather eat the veggie than blend it into a liquid. At least I could sneak it onto the fork with something tasty to mask it. :P

6. If you use the right veggies it's great
Carrot, Apple, Beet, Ginger is great.

So is Carrot, Orange.

The other day I used garden fresh tomatoes for tomato, carrot, green pepper juice. Mmmmm.

For some reason, Celery makes nasty tasting juice. Spinach isn't much better.

I don't like eating veggies that much, so drinking them in raw form is great. Also, I feel it. Thirty minutes after drinking what I call "super juice," my energy level goes through the roof.

7. Uhhh....
So, what you're saying is ....

Drinking juice before bed = A BAD FREAKING IDEA? lol I certainly don't want to be up all night!

Well, Maybe I'll have to crack a bottle of wine to counteract it! :D

I DO like orange/carrot juice. I also had some carrot/apple juice, and that's good. (Just got this juicer for my birthday on Sunday)

I have carrots, apples, beets, AND ginger - so I'll have to try that one this weekend.

I bought a lot of fruits/veggies to use. I have:

Tons of carrots
Apples
Oranges
Peaches
Some apricots
Pears
ginger
lemons
limes
parsley
beets
tomatoes
celery

It seems like I got more - but I'm drawing a blank on any more there may be.

Any other good combos from those listed?

10. Now we're talkin' juice`n`juicers....yum
I was wearing out the blades of the juicers I bought in stores within a month so I finally invested in A juicer. If you become a serious juicer or for those that already are, investing in a good quality, heavy duty juicer is a must. For those that are occasional or week-end juicers, most juicers will work just fine.

Figuring out what your paticular tastes are is going to be trial and error. For me even though I love brocoli I really don't like it juiced or in a juice mix. Same with Cabbage. TOO strong.

I have my basic favorites I drink daily for enjoyment and maintaining health. But if I have an ailment of some sort such as, cold, fever, constipation, low energy, to re-hydrate, depression, pms, clean out sluggish clogged organs ie; liver, gall bladder, etc., I look to specific recipies (I drink these whether I like em or not) to help relieve the symptoms and recover from illnesses quicker.

A couple basic combos I like are....
3 to 4 carrots and 1/2 beet. (variation add 1/2 cucumber)
4 to 6 carrots and 2 red delicious apples.

If you want a super energy boost..
A handful of spinich, handful of parsley, 2 stalks celery and 4 to 6 carrots.

For a delicious treat and a great refresher/thirst quencher after a hot sweaty day....yum this is one of my faves...
1 cup orange juice (i prefer navel oranges)
1/2 cup apple juice use red delicious
1 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons milk (sometimes i use vanilla ice cream :P )
throw it all in a blender, toss in 3 or 4 ices cubes, blend it all up, and enjoy. It's tastes like those 50/50 ice cream bars that are half vanilla ice cream and 1/2 orange sherbet....:mouthwatering:

The possibilities are endless and depending on the type of juicer you have, you can juice almost anything. If it is not a super heavy duty juicer I would recomend avoiding real hard, tough items like the skins of pineapples. Yeah the skin of the pineapple can be juiced too and there is something about the skin in paticular that aids digestion and helps to reduce pain and swelling in joints. I do a lot of pineapple juice combos for my husband who not only likes pineapple but has joint swelling problems in his elbows and wrists mostly. It does seem to help and he notices a difference if he doesn't get his pineapple for a while.

And try to use only organic fruits and veggies if ya can. If organics are hard to come by, then make sure you wash your produce real well.

Enjoy your juicer :hi: And Happy Birthday

8. is it too late to add an apple?
that doesn't sound like it would be a very tasty juice. I personally think an apple or two always helps the flavor of juice.

Spinach and parsley both juice badly, too little juice, but very potent in terms of flavor.

And, no I don't think it's a good idea to juice just before bed.
a. juice digests really quickly, so you'll feel the energy burst, and that isn't compatible with sleeping.
b. there is a lot of water in juice, so you can burn up some of that energy racing between the bathroom and the bed. :D

my favorite juice:
apple
bell pepper
carrot
celery
cucumber
garlic
spinach or parsley
brewers yeast tablets
=
K8 not nearly as salty as V8, but has all the main vitamins (the brewers yeast has all the Bs)

11. Ya have to be careful with the brewers yeast
Only at first though. If you use to much at the start it can bloat your stomach like a sonofabitch. It happen to me and I was miserable for more than a week waiting for my stomach to un-bloat. With brewers yeast it's a good idea to start with small amounts and slowly increase over a matter of time.
Everyone reacts differently to different things so pay attention to your body. It will let you know if you need to back off some or not.

Complete (all) B's are the ultimate stress reducer too.
