DU Ladies (and doctors): Pregnancy tests
Question about pregnancy tests. If a line forms in the test window, any line, no matter how faint, does it count as a positive???

2. wait a couple days
and do it again. they are very accurate, but how soon after missing 'aunt flo' did you test? might not be enough time... every time i used one i was pregnant. intuition was always strongest while preggers... knew it before i tested.

5. That's what we're going to do.
She (my wife) usually knows what she's feeling, but we had a molar once before, so we're nervous. The second pregnancy produced the most absolutely cutest little guy you've ever seen.

3. Usually, yes. Some tests are more accurate than others. I found EPT the
best.

6. EPT is what we used.
We got a line, albeit a very faint one.

8. Yeah,
but does the sharpness of the color mean anything?

10. It means it's early in the pregnancy.
Any line is considered positive. :)

11. Great!
But what if you've had a molar pregnancy, before? That's our concern.

13. To find that out...
She would have to go to the doctor. Then, undergo several tests including a blood tests to measure the levels of a pregnancy hormone and an ultrasound.

12. Congratulations!
She should see her doctor of course to confirm; but yeah, those are pretty reliable.

the chemicals involved in the testing process are only present during pregnancy. (depending on the test you will have different products present in the urine and adhesing to the strip)

The lines will grow progressively darker as the fetus develops, as more and more chemicals/products are present in the urine.

Congratulations!

16. Its my understanding
That a molar pregnancy produces much more "pregnancy chemicals" than normal ones, so I would say be more worried about that if an early preg. test was highly positive.

Also, they're quite rare, so don't worry too much, but do see a doctor as per usual.

18. A line is a line
Unless it showed up long after you took it, then it could be attributed to evaporation.

If you want to be sure, take another test first thing in the morning.

Congrats!

19. She spotted it right away, but thought it was her imagination.
I, too, saw it immediately, about 10 minutes after she took it. Anyway, she just had blood drawn, so we'll know for sure soon.

20. It's real then!
The stick tests are as accurate as blood tests (even more accurate if you consider the story of that lady misdiagnosed with cancer after a + pregnancy blood test).

Congrats!!
