1. dream theater is the single most talented band i've ever heard.
my friend saw them live, and said that they'd just jam for like 45 minutes straight, making it up on the spot. my favorite songs of theirs are Home and The Glass Prison.

7. Conservative? Says who?
I'm not aware of anything that indicates DT is a conservative band, though I suppose it's not impossible. The band makes a comment on the "Scenes from a Memory" DVD commentary that "as of this recording, we still don't have a president," referring to the election recount fiasco, but that's all they say. No partisan comments are made.

DT pretty much excoriates organized religion (or at least religious extremists) in "In the Name of God," off its latest album and delves into stem-cell research on "The Great Debate," examining all sides of the issue, but otherwise nothing I've heard betrays any political leanings.

Now, if Portnoy has spouted off in the media about being a Bush supporter, then that's his loss, but he strikes me as someone smarter than that.

Oh, and "Images and Words" rocks!
