What movies have been spoiled by later events?
I can't watch the Police Squad movies anymore due to OJ being in them. Just saw part of "Escape from new York" and the World Trade Center in that movie was disturbing now. What movies have been spoiled for YOU by later events??

11. I still like Mel Gibson movies
Sorry, it's true. I've always been a fan, and his EXTREME religious views aside, I will continue to be a fan. I haven't, and don't care to see, the Thrashin' of the Cripes, but he's not in it, so....

Another confession. I love Bruce Willis movies too.

30. Me too.
At least he's anti-Bush. Kinda. I feel terrible watching Die Hard. One of my FAVORITE trilogies ever, only behind Indy. I've just come to the conclusion I like John Mc Clane but not Bruce Willis.

3. 'The Living Daylights'
Decent Bond film which, in 1987, portrayed the Mujahedeen (al Quadea) as good guys... just the way Reagan wanted, no doubt.

4. Billy Wilder's one-two-three
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 06:40 PM by Kellanved
That movie (which is totally brilliant BTW) got spoiled by the construction of the Berlin War prior to it's release.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0055256/

Edit:
Of course the movie was never spoiled for me; but it was spoiled for the audience at the time.

28. Still on my Must-See list
It's on AMC or Turner every so often, but usually at a time I can't get to it.

Well, it's out on DVD, so one of these days it is likely to turn up at the local video store.

6. As Soon As I Saw This Thread
I thought of "Escape from New York." Then I saw your post.

I do wonder if John Carpenter is going to remaster it digitally when the new WTC is finished being built. It would be the kind of stupid thing I've come to expect from Hollywood.

7. I suppose we could say the King Kong remake
In which the World Trade Center fills the bill for the Empire State Building in the original.

Except that picture couldn't have been ruined any more than it was already.

16. The Simpsons go to NY episode
Fairly decent gag with Homer atop one of the Towers, being told the bathroom is in the other one. One of the few funny moments in the whole episode.

20. The movie 2010
in the year 2010 the USSR and USA almost have a war. Not a great film to begin with but totaly unwatchable now. I can still watch 2001, i just imagine it deeper into the future.

22. I used to be a hugh Woody Allen fan....but he seems so
mentally disturbed in real life, I simply can't enjoy his movies. I'm noticing that all of his love interests in his films are just female neurotic versions of himself.

24. Not that I liked the film - but Rambo III
Rambo III, where Stallone helps the Mujahedeen Taliban to kill Soviets in order to help establish a fundamentalist Islamic Afghanistan has now become pretty unwatchable (although it never was one of my favorite films to begin with). The film is rarely seen on TV since 911

27. Pretty much all *rah rah* America rocks combat movies.
I bought a copy of Behind Enemy Lines a few weeks before we invaded Iraq and I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it.

Not that I liked it that much to begin with but some of the actors (mostly Serbs) are pretty cute. I can't even get twenty seconds into it now.

32. The three leads in "Rebel Without a Cause" all met violent deaths...
James Dean was killed in a car wreck, Natalie Wood drowned, and Sal Mineo was stabbed to death.

There are many shots in the movie with these three interacting in scenes. It's impossible to look at them and not think about the tragedies that awaited each of them.

It was a great scene where spidey made a web between the twin towers and catches a helicopter full of bank robbers. I really wanted to see the scene!!!
