Help!

Any Boulder-area Kossians in the legal field, please get in touch ASAP!

My mother-in-law and brother-in-law were arrested this morning by 6 Boulder police officers, who stopped their Thrifty Rent-a-car GUNS DRAWN. They were both held all day in the Boulder lockup, my mother-in-law was verbally abused by the officers and accused of smuggling drugs and possesssing a stolen vehicle.

My family moved to the Boulder area a week ago and drove there in a paid-for and legal Thrifty Rent-A-Car. They're Jehovah's Witnesses so just forget about the drug nonsense.

Oh. And they're Black and Mexican-American. Just so you know.

They're out on bail now and have a court date set for next week.

Here's the kicker.

The Thrifty rent-a-car is in the Boulder impound. With the rental documentation in the glove compartment. The Thrifty franchise in Berkeley, where they rented the car, CLOSED this week. So Thrifty National has no idea, no records, no clue and refuse to take any steps b/c they're afraid of the liability.

My family needs legal advice and representation on the double-quick -- please, anyone who can assist or recommend someone, email sunzoo@gmail.com

Thank you.

*****

Note: Yikes! That is not good at all. Can anyone help this person?

On edit: I'm going to post this in the Civil Rights forum, too.

1. Can't help but...
I got stopped in Boulder by eight cops with guns drawn and was accused of drug possession and ridiculed and yelled at on the side of the road for an hour. They searched my car without a warrant. They found nothing. Then, they let me go after waving handcuffs in my face and saying they were bringing me in and my life would be fucked forever.

That is some weird crap right there! Did you call a lawyer yourself?

On edit: Screw Kansas--what the hell is the matter with Colorado?
