Poll question: Should I stick to my diet?
I'm convinced that there is no hope after peak oil subsides.

Why am I bothering trying to look good? I've been single all my life and still will be. (and even if I found someone, I'd still be afraid of AIDS. )

Why don't I just eat chocolate until I explode? At least I'll have some fun in life.

Why do I want to go back to school when it seems pointless?

Reagan, *, and the neo-cons are the dregs of society. If there was a god, they'd live through the hell they fostered and nourished.

1. I started to get a little hefty and felt really bad about myself....
Edited on Sun Aug-22-04 12:38 PM by RodneyCK2
then I went on the South Beach Diet. Not to sound like a freek'in info-mercial, but I lost a lot of weight in the past two months. I am now fitting back in my old, but ever-so-favorite, pair of jeans.

STAY ON THE DIET....you will thank yourself for it, believe me.

P/S The diet will also change your outlook, less negative. I was bitter like chocolate without sugar. I am now more up-beat, although Bush&co still get me down. There is just no stopping that..LOL.

2. Living Well is the Best Revenge

and indulging your appetite on junk foods is not 'living well.' On edit: one of the prime rationalizations for breaking a diet is that the restrictions are 'punitive.' In actuality, the punishment lies in the health problems and self-esteem issues that excess weight brings to us.

3. You're diet seems pretty reasonable
Based on what I've read in other posts. You should stick to it. There are many health advantages to eating sensibly beyond just looking good and you deserve a healthy life. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. :-)

4. If weighing less will make you happy
I know that you've mentioned how much you've weighed before. I am not really sure how overweight that is. If I remember right, you aren't really obese. Even though the BMI isn't true for everyone, it is suppose to be a range for optimal health, which includes the present, not just the future. We all have weights that are more natural for us of course. To weigh much less than our natural minimum often does require big permanent diet changes and exercise. If you have been at your weight for a while, your diet will have to be permenent if you expect to keep off the weight. Can you live with your diet? Can there be a more reasonable approach?
If you do think that you will be living on less food in the future, not by choice, you might want to stay on the heavier end of a healthy weight.

5. Yes. You need to get well and stay well, for yourself
You can still eat chocolate, sometimes, and be healthy, too. And you know that your DU family does care or you wouldn't have asked.:grouphug:

6. Eh, what's the point.
I've tried dieting, exercising, blah blah blah, I always end up more pissed at myself then when I started.

I say eat what u want, sit around all day on your ass if u want, and learn to love yourself the way you are. CHEERS.
