Once again, some RW douche bag gets political in a music forum.
The original, off-topic, posting (made to rec.music.rock-pop-r+b.1960s):

2004 Election Conundrum:

A few weeks back, a politically progressive acquaintance asked me:

"How can otherwise intelligent people vote for Bush?"

I shook my head, and asked:

"How can otherwise intelligent progressives vote for Kerry?"

She glared at me and walked away.

Was it something I said?

And my equally off-topic reply:

Simple. Otherwise intelligent people WON'T vote for Bush; only the wealthy and the mind-bendingly ignorant will do so.

<<I shook my head, and asked:

Because John Kerry is an intelligent, honorable, and respectable man with a lifetime of public service under his belt.

He did not use his family's wealth and power to get into an Ivy League university despite pitifully low test scores.

He did not stay out of Vietnam by using his family's wealth and power to get pushed to the top of a waiting list of hundreds of names to join his state's National Guard, and then subsequently go AWOL.

He did not drive every company he ever ran into bankruptcy.

He did not waste the first 40 or so years of his life getting drunk and sniffing cocaine.

His two daughters are not drunken, out-of-control bimbos with a sense of entitlement about them.

He did not lose the 2000 election by half a million votes but become president anyway due to the sleazy, underhanded tactics of his cronies in the GOP's Taliban wing.

He did not ignore several months of warnings that Bin Laden was planning a terrorist attack in the United States.

When said terrorist attack happened, he did not hide out in Nebraska like a spineless coward.

He did not lie about Saddam Hussein being an imminent threat to the United States to get us into a war in which close to 1,000 American troops have died for no good reason.

Come Election Day, a village in Texas will be getting its idiot back. So fuck you, neo-CONS!

1. You tell 'em, NightTrain
I don't mind people getting political. As a matter of fact I've got a thread saying that I wish more bands would make political music. When right wing people speak up it gives us a chance to engage them and possibly make them see the error in their ways. When left wing people speak up we can be cheerleaders.

2. Excellent response Night Train..!!
It still boggles my imagination how any creative person could justify an iota of support for Repugs after years of attacks by them on Music and the Arts...

Keep up the good work, thanks for the inspiration and keep on jammin' :hi:

8. the asshole thinks he's clever
he's responded with the lie that kerry would vote for war again.

"Just a couple of weeks ago, while on the campaign trail, John Kerry
was asked by a reporter if he(Kerry)knew in 2002 what he knows
now...that there weren't any WMDs in Iraq, no link between Iraq and
al-Queda, no plutonium bought from Niger...would he still have voted
to give authority for President Bush to wage war against Iraq?

Kerry said, "Yes""

you know the answer to that. :D

7. Those RWers can't resist getting political in forums
It seems to be their nature. Model railroading forums, job-related forums, outdoor forums, hiking forums, I've seen them inject their hate and poison into every one of them.

There's one guy who wrote a novel that I really liked (self-published) and then I saw him show up in another forum I read sometimes, posting right wing bilge about "Hanoi John Kerry". I completely lost respect for him at that point. Well, the book was still pretty good but I don't go around recommending it like I used to.

Then there's this hiking forum I used to subscribe to. It had two right wingers on it who would post attacks on "the environmentalists" every chance they got. The moderator tolerated them doing that because they are supposedly expert hikers or something. I unsubscribed.
