Post your DREAM JOB
Edited on Sun Aug-22-04 06:12 PM by MrScorpio
I'd be a club DJ running the European Circuit. You'd call me DJ MacScorpio.

London, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin, Copenhagen, Ibiza and Monaco.
That's the first month. Then Prague, Helsinki, Barcelona, Budapest, Cannes...

2. I wanna be Serena Sabak, world's sexiest psychic from Weekly World News
She's always on the run exorcising demons and casting good luck charms on poor white trash.

And she gets paid for it!

Here's an example of her good work:

Dear Serena: You've got to help me before I go crazy -- or get killed. I recently moved into an old house I picked up for a song because it needs a lot of work and it's situated behind an old graveyard. Everything was fine at first. But then I started hearing screams and moans at night that I'm sure are coming from the graveyard. One time I walked outside to investigate and saw what looked like hundreds of zombies carrying torches in a big circle around my house. I fired my shotgun at them and they disappeared. But I have a gut feeling they'll be back -- and this time they'll burn down my house with me in it. I hope you don't think I'm crazy, Serena. Please help me -- before it's too late. -- Worried in Baton Rouge

Dear Worried: Everything will be fine if you follow my instructions to the letter. First, purchase a big box of rock salt and spread the crystals in a circle around your house. Second, buy pine or juniper incense and burn a few cones as close as possible to your front door. Third, clip my photograph out of this week's paper and take it into the cemetery by light of day. As you enter the graveyard, shout: "In the name of Serena Sabak, I forbid you to enter the land of the living!" As you finish speaking, raise my photo high over your head and then drop it, letting it drift to the ground. As it does, turn and walk back to your house. You'll be safe from then on.

Cuz I'm plenty mad already!

Seriously, though, my dream job would be setting up a printing/art shop; I'd do a little printing and sewing/binding in the morning, a little wood engraving in the afternoon, a hot cup of tea by my side at all times... Sigh.

I'm always looking for new good music. Though I've been into techno/electronica for about 10 years now, there is soooo much out there it is hard to keep up ... especially since my lifestyle isn't exactly compatible with being part of the club scene.

I'd send my playlist, but I'm in the middle of moving my music from one machine to another so all my files are off my computer right now.

9.  Cafe Mirabelle in Portsmouth, La Provencal
in Portsmouth, Rick's Cafe in Kingston, Colosseum, in Salem.

Also, here's a warning, Never ever go to The Pond view in Kingston. We asked for Grey Goose Vodka, and we got an anti-French Rant followed by an anti-semitic rant and then they turned on Faux news, and this was before we even got seated for dinner. We paid for our drinks and RAN out never to return and promising to tell everyone about this experience.

But I've been to the rest you listed, except for Rick's.

I usually prefer to go to the Brewery in Portsmouth. We went to Antony Alberto's in the spring--it was excellent and I would highly recommend it myself if you're looking for a nice place to celebrate a special occassion.

30. Anthony Alberto's
http://www.anthonyalbertos.com/

It is next to the Cere's bakery on Penhallow Street. It's down in the basement, but the room is actually quite nice. It has *hands down* the best service in Portsmouth. The food is outstanding, of course. I believe Phantom Gourmet had it as the best Italian in NH, though it is not Italian in the same way as the Coliseum.

Dinner for 2 would probably cost about &75-$100 if you had three courses and wine or drinks.

One caveat: I thought the wine list was terribly overpriced. It has some impressive selections (not quite as extensive as the Kingston 1686 House) but their more common wines were, IMHO, about $10-$15 per bottle more than they should be.

34. Too be honest, you'd be hard pressed to find a bad meal in Portsmouth
as long as you stuck to the downtown area, that is. However, the best Chinese and sushi are at Taipei and Tokyo out in the Marshall's plaza. They also have a restaurant in Exeter and one in Bedford. The Exeter one is actually Penang and Tokyo, and they have Malaysian food as well. The Bedford restaurant is just Chinese and Japanese, but it has a more extensive menu.

I also hear Crescent City Bistro in Dover is really good. They have a rum bar. I haven't been myself, but friends recommend it. :)

I really like CJ's on Elm Street in Manchester for Tex-Mex. If you go there you have to have the fish taco.

As you can see, eating out is important to me too! :)

27. ok
A small elementary school...say 350 students, that feed into a small middle school, that feeds into a small high school, in a small community.

A progressive schoolboard and site administrator. Small class sizes, adequate physical infrastructure. Paid PE, Art, and Music teachers. Paid planning time. Paid time to meet with each and every family at least 5 times a year. A 190 day school year, with a 2 week fall, winter, and spring break. Full support services; psychologist, tutors, special ed, GATE, etc. available during the professional day.

An excellent, well-stocked library as the center of the school.

Schedules, calendars, programs, curriculum delivery, staffing, rosters, etc. decided on by the teaching staff and parents as partners. Administrators as facilitators of their decisions.

A garden area outside each classroom door.

No whole-school, district, state, or federal testing; classroom assessments chosen and implemented by the classroom teacher for the purpose of informing instruction.

An individualized curriculum.

No letter grades. Alternate forms of scoring and reporting.

A whole-school focus on nurturing and supporting the growth and development of the whole child.

No classroom interruptions...phone calls, announcements, etc.

Paid well enough to buy a home in the local area and live comfortably.

All expenses come out of the school's budget, not mine.

I get to choose the sort of professional development I need to grow professionally.

Rich teaching resources available.

All styles of learning and teaching honored.

I could go on, but this is enough to start. Somebody let John Kerry know, ok? :eyes:

39. Political strategist for the Kerry Campaign because they aren't coming
on strong enough. Seriously, they need a committee of citizens from across the country to give them constant feedback and advice for their consideration. An example, this morning the Kerry person on with George Stepanapolous (spelling?) talked about the job losses under Bush, but failed to bring up the Bush policy to eliminate overtime that goes into effect tomorrow. It would have been a good time to say Bush doesn't care about American workers.

63. Hmmm... Can I opt for both,
and "Asian" porn too, make it three??

Not sure, some Dutch porn is a little much even for me.

65. Writer, director, producer
of most any film or television away from Hollywood. Hollywood is too hot and too political, and I worked in it for long enough.

New England, Toronto, Vancouver, New York, etc. would be the best venues.

Science fiction, preferably, with a lot more work in series television.

71. This is going to sound exceedingly stupid

But I was watching America's Funniest Home Videos the other night (Ya I know, but sometimes I'm high and I just watch it)

Anyway, they had this series of clips from a video camera that was mounted behind the counter at some type of store. (There were glass cases so I suppose they sold jewelery)

The storefront was a giant clear window with a glass door.

All day long people were seen walking head first into the clear glass window. Afterward one of the workers there would go and windex the window clean so the next person would walk right into it again.

It was fucking hilarious and my dream job is to work in THAT store.
