Why I've Been Away For So Long...

I've been busy lately and unable to put in my normal long hours of DUing.

"Why?" I hear you asking yourselves, scratching your heads bemusedly.

MY KIDS ARE HERE!!! Until the 31st, they are staying with me. Riley is *huge*. He is almost as tall as me now, and boy, is he smart. He can engage adults in conversation about everything from politics to cosmology. Lark is up to my chest, and his new thing is singing. He makes up the funniest little songs, like the armpit song for his baby cousin. It goes, "I love your little armpits, but I hate your buttocks."

I also have a new "kid"--a ten-year-old umbrella cockatoo. He's settling in pretty well. (Anyone else with a large bird, please PM me, I need ideas.)

So that's my life at the moment--playing with my kids, cuddling with my bird, and getting ready for school.

5. I just spent more than $100 on bird toys

The poor guy was living in a cage in a closed room with only a lizard for company, and he had two toys in his cage that had been there for at least a year (the clasps were rusted shut). Bird Guru from Pike Place said to put at least 11 toys in there, and change them frequently, and Gideon has been quieter about going into his cage to sleep ever since!
