2. Why use wallpaper at all?

The biggest problem I have with the average computer user is their incessant need to screw up their computer. Always changing the wallpaper, changing icons, changing sound files, playing games.

In case it's slipped their minds, the computer is a tool intended to be used. You didn't put colorful ribbons and little pictures of The Cutest Cat In The World all over your typewriter when you had one, did you? Did you tape penny whistles to your pencils and pens? Stick "World's Greatest Grandma" stickers on all your business correspondence?

Adding crap like this to a computer is one of the reasons they crash so often. Especially in the case of Windows, the world's most crash-worthy operating system. If people would keep their systems lean, clean and un-pooftahed-up, they would run longer, better and faster.
