Just spent 2 and a half hours on the phone with Dell..Kill me NOW
All of a sudden, my keyboard quit working...:eyes:..and after being disconnected twice and transferred twice, I got "JoAnne" who had to repeat everything a couple of times.. (Indian people speak very competent english, but the cadence and speed is hard to understand)..

We unplugged, rebooted etc and while I was on hold waiting for her to set up a service call, I tried once more...and wouldn't you know..it works again...

It quit , literally in mid-word earlier this am, and now after teasing and taunting me for hours, it has decided to work again..

So now I am pissed...tired...and my neck hurts from holding that damned PHONE forever..

I learned too late, that Dell was not the choice I should have made, but I am stuck with this laptop and of course I still have the "doorstop" (aka my other dell..the desktop that quit in May)..

I bought these two together and spent a wad of cash on them..

I think I would have been better off to go to a swap meet and buy a used one..:grr:....

2. do you have a USB keyboard laying around?
if you plug it in you won't have to use the one affixed to the laptop. It's a temporary solution, but it you won't lose your productivity while you want for Dell to help you.

6. Dell
I have a Dell but I will tell you I will never buy another. I too had a problem and called service. I told them my problem and they said they would call me back. Well folks that was about 6 months ago.
I called in a tech and he fixed it. As for Dell, America Deserves Better.

8. And they say Microsoft and outsourcing companies exploit...
Macs are THE most expensive personal computers. For dollar-per-feature, they suck. The OS wasn't even their own, they took a freeware OS (a form of BSD) and added pretty graphics to it.

They always say 'think different' and other sayings to get people to change. But their prices as ridiculously high and they don't offer any incentives. When I moved from OS/2 to Windows NT in 1997, I paid $2000 for new software. Assuming the Mac had the comparable software, I'd be spending that much again easily. (and newer products like Macromedia Dreamweaver Studio MX 2004 only allow one platform to be used per key NOR will they allow the user to uninstall and change PCs - I heard that annoying tidbit from customer reviews on other websites. Macromedia can go F themselves, but until Al Gore convinces Steve Jobs to be pro-consumer instead of consumer-exploiter-royale, Apple can stick it to themselves as well.)

7. Isn't it great that corporate america sees fit to devalue PC support?
* overseas offshored outsourcing
* understaff ALL phone-based support, who cares which country it's housed in and who's being underpaid and exploited?
* corporate mammoths like best buy and compusa have their own tech centers where they undercharge while conning people into buying extra stuff they don't need
* small businesses like computer renaissance which do what the mammoth corps do, only to a worse extent because they have to or otherwise they'll go under because of what the mammoths are doing?!
* sole proprietorships going under because they can't even begin to compete with the prices the mammoths are charging (combined with the ludicrous tax structure meant to keep them down) because these people have to frigging LIVE?!

:grr:

9. Duuude! You got Delled!
Seriously. Don't ever buy this crap.

Of course, I bought my computer from Future Shop (the Canuckistani equivalent of Circuit City), so who am I to judge?
