My Beloved Rottweiler died this morning
She was sick this weekend and the vet on call did not call back all weekend. I thought she was getting better after she threw up and then started drinking water. I thought she was getting better, and stayed up all night with her. She died about 4:30 am The vet said she was dehydrated. I am so angry with myself for not just finding an allnight vet. They said that if they could have put in anIV she would have been alright. She was 150 pounds so it was very difficult for me to have physically picked her up as I am home alone, my son is at school and mt husband is flying. I'm just devastated

5. So sorry. They are such good
friends. We lost one of ours three years ago and I still miss him. He was 15 but I always wonder if I could have done more somehow.

6. Terrible, I had a pet die recently too.
I didn't realize my cat was eating very little for a couple weeks and then when I took him in I found he had kidney failure. So don't feel inattentive. You made a call but it's hard to do everything when you're worried about stuff.

7. I'm very sorry, Nashyra...
Beloved pets must surely go to a wonderful place for their "just" reward. Take comfort in that and your wonderful memories. Dogs, unlike people give unconditional love. She surely would not "blame" you.

10. She was the sweetest dog
she had eyes that looked into your sould. I laid on the floor allnight with her. She got up to go outside and didn't come in around 3 and I went out and brought her back in using a towel for a sling for her back legs. She died while I was asleep. I sure hope she didn't suffer too much and I know she wouldn't blame me but I can't help feeling like I should have known

12. Forgive yourself, Nashyra.... Your dog certainly has.
When you are ready, bring tribute to all she has given you by saving another pet desperate for a loving home. She'd want you to.

Please try not to blame yourself. We all do the best we can for our dogs.

14. I am so sorry
I know how you feel. My black lab died earlier this year. Just like you, I did not know how sick he was. He never missed a meal or stopped drinking water. I knew he wasn't well but it was over a weekend and I thought I had time. He died on the table in the vet's office. I still feel guilty, I did not know how fast they can die. It is very hard and I'll pray for you.

17. OH, I'm so sorry
It's heartbreaking to lose a pet under any circumstances; please know that you did the best you could. I wouldn't take the vet's word as gospel - there could have been, and in fact probably were, other problems besides being dehydrated. In other words, please don't blame yourself.

I lost four cats in 1-1/2 years, and I have a good idea of the pain you are feeling. I thought I'd never get over the death of my first cat, but the pain does lessen. Try to remember the good times with your sweet dog; things will get better.

18. So So Sorry, Nashyra....
Those of us who have had, & lost beloved pets, know how you feel.

It is also very common not to know how sick they are; they are so vulnerable, & that is what we love so much about them.

She will always be with you.

19. my dog went to the Bridge last week
I understand. My wheaten terrier was put to sleep Friday the 13th. She had oral cancer. I was prepared, but my heart is still breaking. I miss her terribly. Time will heal everything. I also feel guilt.....I think it's normal to think that you could have done something.

22. Thank You all for the beautiful message
My son drove home from UNR to be with me and my husband called from Santo Domingo, so I feel better. The vet called and said she had panreatitis so even if she had been given an IV her life would have changed drastically, she will be waiting for us and we have her son BOOBOO and we have a puppy girlfriend for him so we are lucky our home is not without the love of a dog. She was the queen bee and I think she would not have wanted to live without being able to jump on our bed anymore or live on a special diet, she was spoiled rotten. I think God took her soul that wonderful soul of her's could go help someone else. I got her when my I lost a baby and when we were filling out her AKC papers we found out that she was born on the same day the baby died, so we always figured she was a a gift to get us through the hard part, I think she is on her way to helping someone else. Thanks for letting me pour out my grief here today.

Cindy

25. Pancreatitis is awful
Our cat Chester died of it in January. I don't know about dogs, but in cats it's very hard to diagnose and it can often appear as other ailments. What a sad day for you.

27. What a beautiful, but bittersweet story...
she was like a little angel in your life while she was here!

My sister's Rottweiler, Ruby, is my little angel but she's getting up there in years too.

So sorry for your loss!

I know that I will be sad too when my dog dies. Dogs become like our children, but they only live for much a short time. Don't blame yourself for her death.
