Fellow migraine sufferers: Ever taken Relpax?
Please share you experience with me! Doc gave me some samples after I finally mentioned the migraines to him.

1. Dunno.
I have heard a couple of people who had bad migraines. One found feverfew was a godsend, the other found the frequency and intensity of the headaches greatly diminishedwith feverfew.

3. Tried Feverfew...didn't really work for me at all.
Wished it had...it's a lot cheaper.

2. Can't help you there. My wife had them for years and then she
started avoiding nitrates religiously and hasn't had one in over 15
years. It's a poison used in processed meats like bacon and lunch meat. It builds up in the system until he reaches a level and then it triggers one. Just an idea, look for it and other "additives" in food as many are poisons which are used in "low dose" to preserve meat and some veggies.

4. i have tried relpax
it works pretty much the same for me as any other triptan: imitrex, zomig, etc.

if you've never taken a triptan before, it can hit you pretty hard at first. be sure to take it as early in the migraine process as possible, the sooner you can identify your headache as migraine, the better. triptans get less effective when taken later in the migraine process.

you may experience some unpleasant side-effects during the first hour, as the medicine takes effect. i sometimes get dizziness, itchy scalp, flush face, eye irritation, dry mouth, and a few other nuisance, but not serious, side effects.

after about an hour, the pain starts to go away, and can do so fairly quickly. about 1/3 - 1/2 of the time, my migraine completely vanishes. most of the rest of the time, my migraine is at least reduced in severity. i may have to take a second dose an hour or so later. usually by the secound dose (and the second hour) either the meds worked or at least the migraine is naturally less painful.

good luck!

5. Give this a try
I had migraines for years, tried all sorts of prescription meds with mixed results. Finally a doctor told me if I took 4 advil when I first felt a migraine coming on (mine is a feeling I get to know, kind of lightheaded and clammy skin, followed by bright lights in the eyes, yours will probably be different).
If I take the advil when I first get the feeling or at least by the time the bright lights hit I can avoid the migraine completely. If I take the advil after the bright lights have hit but before the pain hits I can reduce the pain to a dull headache.
Since I've been doing this I've reduced the dosage to 2 advil, still works. I rarely get them now (I also don't do nitrates and my caffeine is limited to tea).
Give it a try, good luck!

8. Mrs. Foolery says that Excedrin Migraine works wonders for her...
especially if it is used early on. The other stuff is too expensive and made her and her mother sick.

9. Did you know Excedrin Migraine is identical to Extra Strength excedrin..
You can buy the generic stuff.

There is absolutely NO difference except the package.

12. Relpax is wonderful
I found it often worked for me even in those instances when Imitrex did not. Unfortunately it is not on my insurance's formulary so I have to pay $35 for six tablets, wheras I can get 9 tablets of Imitrex for $20. Therefore I just settle for the Imitrex even though it doesn't always work 100% of the time.

13. Just Got Put on Topamax
I have severe migraines (2X per week; 72-84 hours per migraine; with partial vision loss), and the Elavil I've been taking for years to prevent them stopped working, so now I'm taking Topamax for prophylaxis and for when migraine strikes, I take in this order:

Tylenol sinus or Excedrin
Fiorinal
Maxalt
Imitrex Stat Dose (do-it-yourself injections)

14. None of the triptans work for me. Doctor just gave me Relpax last week
and it did not work. :( I was excited that something may work besides the painkiller/muscle relaxer route I usually take, but it was not to be. My doctor has said that some migraines just don't respond to triptans. I hope for better luck for you!

15. I have had severe migraines for 8 years
I have always had them but they struck me almost on a daily basis in my 3rd trimester of my second pregnancy.Ive had them ever since with no relief.I went untreated during the rest of the pregnancy and breastfeeding for 8 months.Longest bout of hell I`ve ever known.
I then tried imitrix.I had a severe reaction.Ive been on all the triptans.Ive had allergic reactions to them.I am currently on migrainal *dhe45 nasal spray* that seems to work in combo with an opioid based pain relief.I take prozac ,verapamil, topamax for preventive treatment.
I was in such hell I even became part of a migraine study.A plastic surgeon in cleveland did a brow lift to reduce migraines.Didnt work on me but most people in the study was helped.(or botox to the face and neck).
