Anyone having trouble searching Yahoo News?
For two days, it hangs my IE window every time I try. I've done a full scan for viruses and spyware. Everything else works fine...

Anybody else getting this problem?

1. please?
anybody? Just check. It doesn't crash your machine - just hangs the IE window and I have to use task manager to close it.

i DO use yahoo as my primary search engine, though...

8. sigh
yeah I know about mozilla.

My question was about whether or not my problem was local to my system or a problem with Yahoo news.

Thanks for at least not telling me to buy a mac.

9. dookus...sorry about offering a workaround-a necessity w/ ms products
i passed up your post for a while, because i don't use IE and my answer would not have specifically answered your question. then you begged for help.

next time i'll ignore you.

10. lol
don't be hurt. Sorry if I sounded rough. It's just that EVERY time somebody posts a question about IE, a contingent jumps in to tell 'em to use something else.

I actually HAVE mozilla installed here, and I'm not experiencing the problem using it. I was curious about whether the problem was with MY system or with Yahoo news. I know you were trying to be helpful.

12. I go to...
Edited on Tue Aug-24-04 02:05 AM by Dookus
www.news.yahoo.com

then enter anything that'll find a result ("olympics", "bush", etc.) and click Search. The window either goes blank or shows ONE picture and some text smooshed up in the top left corner, then does nothing. When I go to Task Manager, it's not responding. Curiously, I also get TWO items showing up with that window name in TM.

ON edit: I've also rebooted, run a full virus and spyware check, and deleted all internet files. It just started happening yesterday. Never had such a problem before.

I just didn't enter the full thing. Yes, that's the URL I'm using - the main yahoo News page.

17. thanks
it must be my system. It's 100% reproducible here.

I also have DSL and a speedy computer. The problem is immediately obvious - the page just draws wrong and the hour-glass pointer comes up immediately. Then Task Manager shows it not responding.

Thanks for trying.
