My mom's house got broken into.
They stole some money and a clock, but there was very little damage, something scared them of I think. Mom is pretty shook up (she just turned 73 on August 21,my dad died just over two years ago),so my brother is gonna stay with her. My mom wouldn't hurt a fly and it just burns me up that something like this happened to her.

1. So sorry.
Glad she is ok and wasn't hurt. We were robbed years ago while we were both out at work. Took money and the tv. Didn't do anything thing else but feed the dog. It was such a strange feeing though that someone had been there and gone through your drawers.

2. I stayed w/ my mom 2 nights a week for a year
She commutes, so it was only two or three days a week, but it was really weird sleeping there again. After the first couple of weeks, I couldn't sleep in the spare bedroom anymore; I had to sleep on the couch. Eventually she sold the house and we all moved into a townhome together. She now shares a bedroom w/ my daughter for those two days a week.

Have you gone through all the anti-burglary tricks out there? The "beware of dogs" signs, the stickers on the windows from alarm companies, and the Radio Shack noise-making alarms on the doors? Also remember: while good lighting both indoors and outdoors helps, NINETY PERCENT of all home burglaries occur during the daytime.

I've been through it too, and you have my deepest sympathies.

5. No she was out of town for a couple days.
Something spooked the buggers because very little was taken.

7. I'm glad she wasn't there.
Do they have any idea when they broke in? I guess I'd be freaked that they might try to come back...
