Outside the OBVIOUS - favorite daily comic strips

Obvious is, of course, stuff like Doonesberry and Boondocks. I mean, we all love those strips because they have such a progressive attitude about them.

HOWEVER, removing the obvious - what are your favorite comic strips?

Mine would be:

• For Better or For Worse: btw, the grandfather has been vocally anti-war in the strip and they have a gay couple featured regularly. Plus their kids actually aged on the comic strips. I remember when Elizabeth was just a toddler and now she's just graduated college
  
• Jump Start: They're like FBOFW with aging the kids
  
• Mutts: If you love animals you have to love Mutts!!!

1. Mutts, Fox Trot, Out of the Gene Pool, Zits

Some of my favorites. :-)

I like For Better, For Worse, but my take on it is that Lynn Johnston has not featured Laurance, Michael's gay friend, all that much. Lynn said she got a lot of vicious hate mail after Laurance came out during the strip's run.

3. Non Sequitur, Sherman's Lagoon & Fox Trot

Most hated comics:

Pluggers, Family Circus & Peanuts. (Charles Shutlz is dead, god-dammit... they didn't keep running the Yellow Kid when R.F. Outcault died.)

7. For Better or Worse is fantrastic...

I've been reading since Elizabeth was "lily-bub" (maybe two years old). I still tear up when I remember Farley's death. Sadly, I've heard that the artist is planning to retire soon and wants to start winding up some story lines. I really hope it isn't so.

Another favorite is Arlo and Janis.
