I'm boycotting the History Channel!
I'm home sick and i've been watching way too much TV. I had the History Channel on for a few hours yesterday, and i saw 5 Bush ads. Kerry's people may not have bought time on the station. However, i remember a few months ago when they aired this Operation Enduring Freedom pro-war "documentary" and it left me bitter. No more History Channel!

10. A few years ago
or maybe a few months (not sure) there was a really great special on the first few hours after Lincoln was shot. It detailed the entire conspiracy including the plan to kill Johnson and other cabinet officials.

11. I have a book on that plot
Bought it when I was at the military fort in southern florida that housed the guys who were in the conspiracy to kill Lincoln. Imagine if Wilkes Booth and Herold's plans suceeded, jeez, Lincoln, Johnson, Grant, and Seward would all be dead. WWII history mostly interests me but the civil war has some interesting stuff as well, just make it so I can relate to it and not over glamorize it like an old John Wayne movie and I'll dig it.

2. You mean.................
the "War" channel. It seems to me every time I turn it on there's something about Hitler or some war on. I seldom watch it.

8. It's always been that way.
History International (if you get it) is the better channel, because it focuses more on all aspects and areas of history, not just modern warfare.

13. Military Industrial Complex Channel
While I watch the damned thing, I find that their spin on more current events to be pretty much an ad for the military industrial complex. The same is true for the Discovery Wings Channel.

16. In Defense of the History Channel
(with no appoligies to Ms Malkin)

The History Channel has done a lot of good programming. They are one of the few channels that have shown the series "The Men who Shot Kennedy".

They also have done sone original programming and help fund the raising the CSS Huntley (first submarine to actually sink another ship).

Now the History International channel is another matter. Originally a BBC production, it has been taken over by Disney and on weekends becomes the Military History Channel.

Still, all in all, it is much better and much more accurate than other cable channels such as, say, Fox.
