How's this for irony?
I graduated from Baker High School in Columbus, Georgia. Two of my high school's alumni are very famous political figures. Newt Gingrich graduated in 1961 and Petra Karin Kelly, co-founder of the German Green Party, graduated in 1966. Kelly also worked on Bobby Kennedy's presidential campaign.

Newton's page:

Petra's page:

So we had one from each side of the political spectrum.

1. I feel your pain
About irony, I too am from Georgia. I share a birthday with Newtie and also have a degree in history, like him. I like to think that as his polar opposite, I was put here to counter him.

2. I live in Columbus GA
It's hard to believe there's 2 sides to the political spectrum here right now.

3. Petra Kelly was a great one.
A great figure in the green party and the freedom movement. Also she saw early on, what direction the greens would take.
Her speeches are often featured in the "Historic Debates" feature of the Parliamentary Channel and the local C-Span equivalent.

Her murder and the guilt of Gert Bastian are still among the supreme mysteries in German politics .
