Confession: What stereotypes fit you?
I'm home sick and i'll admit (as a man) i like to be mothered when i'm ill. Someone bring me jucie!

I also don't like to ask for directions when i'm lost. My testosterone takes over and it becomes a quest!!! I'm an idiot.

Those are the only 2 stereotypes!....That i'm aware of....

In other words: I drink like a fish, I am very angry (but mostly at myself), and I enjoy bizarre sexual practices. But most of all, I fucking hate the English.

Funny, my dad is German-Irish and doesnt hate the English, I seem to do though, don't tell them that though, heh I like some of their music but being part Irish I have it out for them. Now I dont know my dad's sexual practices and I'll be honest, I dont wanna know. German-Irish though is a nice combination, oh and my dad is angry man a lot even after he's quit drinking.

23. you know what I mean
I think that Margaret Thatcher is a fucking bitch. Good thing some of the English have a sense of humor, I was saying how ashamed my Irish great grandfather would be to know that his great nieces married English guys. Don't have a problem with the Scots though, though I wish those kilt wearing bastards would have stayed Catholic.

Interesting people though, Dutch Americans are the most republican voting bloc in the country, many belong to the Dutch Reformed Church and are fundy like yet back home in the Netherlands, you have very liberalized laws on physican aided suicide, drugs, etc.

came to the US to escape the liberalism in their homeland, ergo, they are greedy assholes. My father was one for the longest time. Even voted for Bush in 2000. But he's voting KERRY this time!! Woohoo.

As for Dutch stereotypes... I was referring to the frugality (Dutch Treat).

My political almanac has that theres one congressman in Michigan, Pete Hofestra I believe who is actually form Holland and came to America in the 50's. Kinda strange to immigrate then because Holland has never really had any political persecution and natural problems like the Irish potato famine.

52. They were persecuted extremely during WWII
My father's father was burgermeister of the town where they lived and was in internment camps in Germany for most of the war. They definitely suffered political persecution.

As for the immigration, I'm sure it was due to financial reasons. He made a lot more money here than he could have made as a physician there.

57. I'm the opposite of most stereotypes
Edited on Tue Aug-24-04 12:37 PM by NewJeffCT
Italians are supposed to be hot-tempered, passionate people... but, while I am half Italian, I'm pretty laid back & easygoing. My other half is Polish, which is stereotyped as dumb...and I'd like to think that while I'm not quick-witted, I'm pretty smart.

Both Italians & Polish are supposed to be religious...but I'm an atheist.

I work as an accountant, which is generally a conservative profession... yet, I'm a liberal. I work as an accountant though my best subjects in college were English & history.

Liberals are supposed to be drug-using, long-haired hippies... yet, I've never used drugs and always keep my hair short. Heck, I rarely even drink alcohol.

(Though, on second thought, Italians are supposed to be hairy as well, and my facial hair & the hair on my head does grow like a weed. I'm just happy I have no back hair.)

Edited to add - I also used to play Dungeons & Dragons, but I'm not totally inept socially. (and, I'd still play if I had the time) So, that is also the opposite of the stereotype.

My wife, on the other hand, fits nicely into that 'Chinese Dragon Lady' stereotype.

60. Gay Male Gemini Witch
I have very few of the sterotypes of being a gay man. Back "in the day" I was really, really, REALLY, promiscuous though. While I like nice surroundings, my mobile home is furnished from the Home Decor/Bed and Bath section on my local Super Wal-Mart. I have no fashion sense, at all. I can rebuild an engine, but can't figure out how silk flowers go in a vase without looking like they went through a tornado. I like grey, blue, tan and white. Not slate, azure, ecru and bone.

As a guy, I'm a whiney ass biotch when I'm sick. The remote control does have all the power of the universe in it. I tailgate and tend to be a bit of an agressive driver.

I believe that all women should be subserviant to men, and quit their petty ass bitching and moaning about equality and other such crap. Just shut up, get your ass in the kitchen and bake me a pie bitch. (just kidding, want to see if you're paying attention... if I really thought this, I would be walking around with a size 8 slip on that belongs to my Mom up my ass)

As a Gemini, I do have two personalities. I have the bleeding heart, can cry at the drop of a hat with something sad, and I have the warrior, ready for battle injustice the next second. I have some very conservative ideas, and some very liberal ideas. I look at both sides of an argument to the point of madness. I can go from saint to bitch in a blink of an eye if given reason to.

As a Witch, I have a deep sense of living my life honorably. I try not to be dishonest, and when I am, for whatever reason, I beat myself up over it. I treat people with respect, until they disrespect me. I take responsibility for caring for Mother Earth. However, I do have a old, gas guzzling, oil leaking SUV, but that is necessity, not vanity. I honestly believe that everyone has a good part to themselves, even though it may be buried deep, deep, deep, down inside.

93. I have! That's the problem!
Our perfectly nice 3 bedroom house (with cathedral ceilings, window seats, plant ledges, and jacuzzi tub) in the Dallas suburbs was only $105,000!

But it's Dallas. I mean, would YOU want to live here? Not many people do.

There's just something about older homes that makes me happy. So much history and character. I am jealous!

75. This is the best thread! Thanks to all of you.
I've been laughing all the way through this thread.

As for me, well, I'm what's known as a refugee from the law of averages, in many respects, but I do have my stereotypical side. To wit...

*former New Jerseyan and still a Springsteen fan
*liberal who listens to NPR and donates to the local PBS station
*Catholic with almost endless sense of guilt
*part Irish and own a stack of humorous/bawdy/melancholy/patriotic Irish music CDs
*part Scandinavian and no stranger to the depressive streak

82. An Asian female who wears glasses and likes to read ...
Edited on Tue Aug-24-04 05:45 PM by Lisa
But I'm not good with computers, and had to work pretty hard to pass in Calculus and Statistics.

And I'm not "submissive" either -- as the guy who asked me if I were into bizarre sexual practices found out, when I stomped on his foot (with my hiking boots).

Oh -- I was born in an industrial town known for its lack of culture/arts, and sure enough I love doughnuts and wonder what the heck people see in the "Cremaster" series.

Argh! It's all a lie! I fit no stereotypes! I love science but compare Mike Shermer to Santorum! I'm diffuse and my mind is monstrously complex and can focus on diddles of things! I revere Cartoon Network and read tedious works on medieval and 17th-Century intellectual atmospheres! I read about asteroid belts and Yates's views on Giordano Bruno! People claim I'm rational and I snicker into my Llewellyn's books! Eeeee!

89. As a female, middle child, Taurean...
As a woman I absolutely hate to fix things and, although I am completely capable, will whine and bat my eyelashes for as long as it takes to get someone else to do it.

As a middle child, I crave attention like no other.

Like the characteristics of the Taurus sign, I am extremely loyal and dedicated and will "Willingly and loyally follow a leader (I) trust." I am a faithful and generous friend, who loves easily and makes friends with everyone. I hate being in debt, love to argue, am extremely opinionated and stubborn and at times obstinate and "exasperatingly self-righteous". I also have a bit of a temper when provoked, but usually only show that side to those I am extremely close to. (Lucky them).

I am definately NOT ultraconservative, uncreative or self-centered, though.

I used my definition of Taurus from this website: http://www.vangelis.com.au/zodiac/taurus.asp
