4. How Staten Island Got Its Name
In 1609, Henry Hudson was sailing up the river that now bears his name. He sees a large land mass to his left, points to it, and says to his first mate - "Hey!! 'stat an island??"

But I was born and raised there, so I may be the smidgiest bit prejudiced :-) It is certainly the most diverse place on the planet.

6. Queens is largest in sq. ft.
However, I think Brooklyn is slightly more populous. Manhattan is the smallest in area. I grew up in the Bronx.

10. Here are the population densities
Yes, Brooklyn has the most people.

Manhattan 69,873
Bronx 31,730
Brooklyn 35,219
Queens 20,453
Staten Island 7,513

per square mile

And Queens is now considered the largest because they measure the salt flats areas... before that it was, and still rightly should be Staten Island.
