I saw a Bush/Cheney sticker today on a Prius!
In Seattle. On Queen Anne. In the Trader Joe's parking lot! People were pointing and staring.

What is wrong with this picture? :D

5. I wanted to pull that James Carville thing
Where he pulls up next to the person and says, "Excuse me, but I noticed that someone put a Bush/Cheney sticker on your car. I just thought you'd like to know." And then he drives off.

People were slackjawed and amazed, I tell you.

9. There are a few "trapped" freepers here, it seems
I rarely look at the freep boards, but when I have I've noticed the occassional "trapped in liberal seattle" name or names like it.

Oh well. Queen Anne. At least it wasn't Fremont.

31. I miss old capitol hill. :-(
I lived there for years. Now I rarely go there at all.

Almost all the little independently owned stores are gone - just chains and B grade stores.

I remember when it got so bad I actually wanted to leave - something I never thought would happen.

Now I'm just a Fremonter with happy memories.

39. But even Fremont has lost so much charm
How long have you been in town? The '70s were amazing in Fremont. We always went for the bulk foods when I was a kid. It was filled with nuts - real eccentrics - then. I was driving a friend from high school around the other day (she lives out of town now) and she was dismayed that the Fremont Noodle House was gone. But the PCC there is cool.

Here in Montlake, we have the weirdest "commercial" (if you can even call it that) district. There's Cafe Lago, and the coming Montlake Ale House. A weird antique shop. And Mont's Market (a great little shop) and a dry cleaner.

Broadway was so cool when I was in high school. I loved Dreamland, and all of the great record stores. Now it sucks. :(

52. True, true. But let me keep my denial.
I think the loss of City People's in Fremont was a real sign the end is coming.

At least we still have the Solstice Parade.

But have you seen the new Thai place on 45th? It has a VERY impressive facade.

20. What in the HELL?
Edited on Tue Aug-24-04 07:44 PM by VolcanoJen
Oh, man, HEyHEY. I'd call him on his hypocritical bullshit every chance I got.

I'm a big Dave Matthews fan (shut up!!), and it's unbelievable how many Dave fans have backlashed against his involvement in the MoveOn sponsored "Vote For Change" tour. On other boards, republican Dave fans are crying the blues, saying "I'm burning all my Dave CDs! I can't believe this!!"

Just a few minutes ago, I was checking the DMB fanclub site (The Warehouse) to check my seating location for the Vote For Change tour in Dayton, Ohio. I got fourth row fucking center!!! Oh HELL YES!

Anyhow, a few people in The Warehouse were denied tickets altogether (it's based on seniority), and one poster on the message boards wrote, "Well, I just take my denial of tickets as an omen that this is something I shouldn't be supporting in the first place."

I imagine she would have been singing a different tune if she got the tickets I got. At any rate, I guess she's against getting out the "VOTE" message to the younger crowd. Way to stand up for something you believe in, huh? :eyes:

Weird, really, for them to have never listened to the lyrics of his songs. He's pretty apolitical in them, but "Don't Drink The Water" still remains the only Top 10 single I can think of that involves an absolutely scorching critique of European colonialism in Africa.

I just can't believe a DeadHead could be a Republican. That is so incredibly fucked up, I don't even know where to go with it.

I believe she's studying Holistic Medicine? That's something I'm so 100% behind.

I remember reading a Dave interview where he bitched about having to move from his beloved Virginia to Washington, because the medical education institutions in Washington were so much more enlightened.

The word is that Dave stayed out of politics until Ashley Matthews convinced him that he could reach so many people with a positive political message. She's fantastic. :-)

That's the coolest Doctor's Office story I've ever heard, by the way!!!

Smaller? More annoying? Do you really mean the parking lot?

Or do you mean the store?

Honestly, I hate my journeys to TJ's. It's like someone detonated a bomb that didn't kill people - just their sense of space and direction.

There's only one place I can find a more overprivileged bunch of people with no sense of other people: Whole Foods. (Though I go there too - just early in the morning.)

The parking lot is awful. I can never find a spot. And as for the store, it's awfully small. My mom is disabled and has a really hard time shopping in there.

One of these decades, they're going to finish the one on 18th and Madison, near Madison Market. That project seems to be just a *tad* behind schedule (it was supposed to open in spring ... of 2004).

I love TJ's - they have great frozen stuff and, yeah, I go for the cheap wine. ;)

It was on the news a couple of weeks ago - a woman returned to her parked car to discover someone had covered her Kerry bumpsticker with a CONFEDERATE FLAG sticker!

And in FREMONT!

But then I just delighted in the fact that in Seattle that's actually news.
