Okay, slam me if you will but....
..having just watched the Olympics and the women's 400 metre race there is no way in the world that the Mexican competitor was female. I mean no frickin' way...Facial structure, voice (they did a promo bit before the race when 'she' spoke ) body type (not just the lack of chesticles, but NO hips, no nada). My good lady wife stopped in the midst of doing something else and said "who's the guy with the pony-tail?"....

Anybody else think that way?

1. No
But then, I don't think that all women must be perky, hippy, and a have a cute, high pitched voice. And, the last time I checked, the Olympics wasn't a beauty pageant.

2. Understand I don't care either way...
..I'm just saying that 'she' has to be the most manly 'woman' I have ever seen...

I have checked the Olympics too and it DEFINITELY ain't a beauty pageant..that's not my point, but feel free to get all bent out of shape about it...:eyes:

No. Just responding to a post that said "feel free to slam"

Edited to correct quote.

6. I didn't realize that the very first post was going to be a slam...
I'm not saying 'she' is ugly. Well, okay I AM saying 'she' is ugly, the point I was making was that 'she' was masculine....VERY masculine...Not like the athletes from the former Deutsche Demokratische Republik, they were just bulky and doped to the eyeballs, I'm saying I think this 'woman' is a man....or WAS a man...and as such is perhaps a little less than fair to her other female competitors...

7. Well
I'll admit that usually I would have posted something a little less slammy and maybe a little more sarcastic instead. But, it's getting late, and I'm tired.

5. All you need to be female
is the right organs in the right places.
All the other stuff is just packaging.

But yeah, that was an ugly woman. (at least by my standards which are obviously only mine)

4. with runners and other athletes that require muscle development, women
are often subject to a delayed puberty and an inter-pubertal period masculination. (for a lay description, try Dr. Timothy Taylor (yes, that's his name) 's popular work, "The Prehistory of Sex" and Susan Allport's "The Primal Feast".) Runners especially end up developing a pelvis far later in life than other athletes.

However, do recall that several women have been disqualified for being XXY and gone on to have children - naturally.

Gender isn't a black and white issue but a continuum.

8. I was thinking that she reminded me of a friend
from high school who was very into running. I always admired her for her athletic prowess, her healthy lifestyle, and her intelligence. She was also a terrific student who was accepted into Hopkins pre-med program with scholarship $.

There were others who simply thought she "looked like a boy".

11. Okay. Good...so I'm NOT going nuts...
Like I said, I don't care either way, but having a dude running in a woman's event shouldn't be kosher...

10. I didn't see it, but I believe you
See how the drug tests come out. I know that competing in these games is very important for these people, but taking steroids could shorten their lives. It wouldn't be worth it to me. I saw a "60 Minutes" segment on this, and wish I had seen this competitor, since maybe I could tell, from seeing this report, if steroids were to blame for her appearance. I agree with you. This is not necessary and could ruin a life.
