And that's all I have to say about that.

1. Yes, it is
I've always thought that was strange.....like we don't have enough "normal" hours to teach our children. :)

9. Agreed. Especially since recent studies suggest teenagers need
quite a bit of sleep. Crazy, eh? :hi:

2. Bus?
I figure that means your kid gets to enjoy an hour's bus ride to school-am I right? I have an hour's commute ahead of me, but I don't mind-closest thing to a traffic jam I get is when the elk herd decides to cross the road.

5. You win the prize!!!
Yes it's an hour long bus ride. She's not happy. I tried to be optimistic..."you can nap on the way, do homework coming back" It isn't working. I will say that I was sawing Z's by 9PM last night due to this new flurry of activity so early in the AM. :hi:

12. I'll never complain about my daughter missing the bus again, it's
only a 15 minute ride.

What kind of area do you live in that the school is so far away?

15. It's a private school. She won a scholarship last year so we thought
we'd give it a whirl. But the bus situation is going to be the make it or break it issue. :hi:

4. I used to get up at 5:30 all the time...
Then I found out how great sleeping in can be! Now I get up at 7:45 (for school). That gives me just enough time to get dressed.

6. This is what she did last year. But now it's all about appearance and
we apparently need time to get ready for 6:45 bus pickup. I get my husband up at 4:30 but then I used to lay around. Now I have to DO stuff. :hi:

P.S. It's not 7:45 yet. Go back to bed. ;)

10. You get your husband up?
I get up at 5:30 every weekday all by myself. My goal is to wake up a few minutes ahead of the alarm, and roll out of bed as quietly as possible.

Shame on him.

I can't imagine having to get my 12-year old daughter up that early, however. That would be truly ugly. I think if my School Board so arrange things, I'd start calling board members about that time every morning to let them know we were up and ready for their insane bus scheduled.

11. Yes it is early
Got a 13 year old walking round like a zombie right now (FYI so am I), the comes at 6:40 ish. On the bright side he does not have such a long ride his classes start at 7:30 am. The bus gets to school at about 7:15, leaving time for them to get off, get to lockers and get to class. The dark side, its too early for my kid to learn, and the High School starts at at the same time so the kid will be on that bus for 5 more (including this) years. To save money our district combines the Middle and High School students on on bus.

14. Crazy isn't it? I'd rather have them start at 9:30 and get out around
4ish. They are worthless at this time of day, but then so am I. I really think we expect too much of them. :hi:

13. Ahh, I'm old fashioned. If he's willing to go and put in twelve hour days
to feed our family, I'm willing to get him up and send him off with coffee and lunch. It's a fair trade off, and he doesn't take it for granted. Plus, he'd never hear the alarm and we'd make no money. ;)

The school she goes to is located 37 miles from our home, hence the early bus ride. She'd be a walker if she went to our local school. It's right down the street. :hi:
