A long-haul truck driver has been caught at a Wal-Mart store in Woodland attempting to develop film that appears to depict child pornography, according to Sacramento FBI Special Agent in Charge Keith Slotter.
Steven Michael Kelly, who drives for a Sparks, Nev., trucking company, is charged in a criminal complaint filed last week in federal court with possession of child pornography.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Kimberly J. Mueller found Kelly to be a flight risk and a danger to the community, and she ordered him held without bail.
According to a court affidavit of FBI Special Agent Christopher Hopkins, the 41-year-old Kelly walked into the Wal-Mart on Aug. 14 and, using an alias, dropped off two rolls of film for one-hour developing, asking that each roll be copied to a computer disk.
The affidavit gives this account: While processing the film, a store employee noticed images she thought were possibly illegal and alerted her supervisor. Woodland police were summoned.
