Cops Want To Chop Down Oak Tree To Stop Drugs & Prostitution
<snip>

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. -- Okaloosa County sheriff's deputies think they have found a solution for getting rid of drug dealers and prostitutes who congregate under a giant oak tree: chop it down.

The sheriff's office is seeking permission to have the tree removed from a county right of way on Cypress Street.

"We're not attacking the tree," Deputy Don Hess said. "The tree hasn't hurt anybody."

But Hess said it provides cover for drug dealers and prostitutes and their customers. He said 30 to 40 arrests per month stem from criminal activity at the oak.

1. Psst....hey Deputy Numbnutz...
Maybe it's better that all this congregating happen somewhere you can watch it, rather than somewhere out of sight. Of course, then you'd have to watch the tree, and actually do some work.

This is probably an attempt to keep the neighborhood happy by moving the problem to another neighborhood. Sweep it under the rug, and everybody is happy, eh?

2. Gee...then maybe the criminals will congregate elsewhere...
...and the world will be deprived of the beauty of the oak tree.

3. Classic Cop Stupidity - It doesn't even occur to them
that the activity will simply move to another location. Of course they could cut down all the trees - that would cure the drug problem.
My city wasted tens of thousands of dollars putting up "Drug Free Zone" signs. They really expected that to work too!

5. will somebody please FIRE this retard!?
... And so the sacred cow shits on us yet again! Another bit of zero-intelligence fanaticism brought to life by the holy War on Drugs.

We must sacrifice everything for the War on Drugs.

We are to be spared nothing in the eternal crusade for a Drug Free America.

6. Another case of stepping on a brick to kick a duck in the ass.
Pathetic.
