16. And that's what my partner used to smoke.
He quit at the same time I did. (It would have been impossible for either of us to quit of the other had continued to smoke.)

== Allen

Did you have a backup-brand when the store is out of your favorite brand? --- Mine was Virginia Slims Ultra Light Menthol 100s.

19. Camel Lights.
I used to smoke GPCs or Harley-Davidsons (now called Mavericks) or Kingsports back in the day.

Back in the day means:

carton of GPCs: $8.99
carton of Maveriks/Harley Davidsons: $8.99
pack of Kingsports: $0.79

Now, everything costs $20, so I just smoke Camels.

I can't stand Marlboros. When I quit smoking for a few months, the taste of Marlboros made me want to puke

22. My mom smokes Skydancers.
They're oklahoman cigarettes made by native americans. I don't understand. I think if you're to smoke, do it properly. Smoke the best, not floor shavings. If you're gonna kill yourself, at least enjoy it.

23. I used to sell cigarettes years ago...
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 09:13 PM by phaseolus
...in the mid 80s and it was an interesting little parlor game to guess the person's brand before they asked for it. I got pretty good at it after a while. African-Americans, if they smoked, generally bought Kools. Women who thought they were 'all that' and wanted to let everybody know, Virginia Slims Light Menthol. Petty criminals and the guy who pumps septic tanks, Newport. Old guys who miraculously never died from lung cancer, Luckys or Pall Malls. Aging boomers, Tareyton. Marlboros were so popular that their smokers were all over the map, but guys dressing up as cowboys (kinda silly in Wisconsin...) always bought them as did the guys who like to pretend to be dangerous to get girls. Guys who probably were a little dangerous (or not to be crossed at any rate,) Camels.

I didn't smoke, but Merit smokers were the most like me -- generic-looking people with no discernable style...

24. Turkish Specials.
Edited on Wed Aug-25-04 10:10 PM by Spider Jerusalem
100% Turkish tobacco. Have a gold-leaf star and crescent on the paper. Very tasty. Little bit more expensive than American brands, but worth it.

When I'm not smoking the Turkish Specials, I'll smoke Camel Lights.

I do use a machine, though. I may be cheap, but I'm also lazy. I guess that makes me classically shiftless :)
