At least, that's what I would've been doing.

8. My neighbor
took it, I did the tornado at the farm with no shelter thing the other night, I got home before this baby showed up. He is a professional photographer and a life long Kansan so as in the tradition of life long Kansans we hunt for these things. There was never an alert because they were not touching down (weather service said they saw no rotation in that particular wall cloud?).

10. Found them! Great pictures!!
Where do you live, pray tell? I, unfortunately, live in southern Johnson County, but prowl the Flint Hills every chance I get.

11. I live in Topeka
the pictures are from my farm in Wakarusa about 10 miles south of my home. The Flint Hills are spectacular, I love them the best after the spring burn, that neon green they get. I just sent my last son to UMKC, we should try to meet sometime since I will most likely be travelling to KC a lot.

12. Just let me know when you're out this way.
My daughter's future in-laws live in Topeka, so I've been out that way a couple of times. Nice town, loved the capitol building. Glad you're okay after this late storm.

13. We can make some plans!
Topeka is OK. So you just got scary clouds tonight? I love when the wind picks up and things start to feel stormy with the distant thunder. I could be happy with that but occasionally you have to get the bad stuff too.

14. I think we've been lucky so far,
we've only had a problem with basement flooding once in awhile, but that's taken care of. Everything else misses us - ususally north of K.C. These storms lately have been coming close. Keep in touch & let me know when you'll be out this way (like we're so far apart!)

17. I have one of his
from a tornado in a flatter area, on the ground and it is a big one. A beautiful black and white that I bought at an auction. He does some great stuff, he had some in National Geographic, mostly reptile photos. He caught this one just right, look for it on a postcard, that is where he makes most of his money with his photos.

22. There is a second smaller funnel tilting toward the center from the left
in the bottom third of the photo. At the bottom of the funnel are the baby's nostrils. On either side of the funnel are the baby's eyes... No mouth is visible, but the clouds form the illusion of a nearly sleeping baby.

It's downright "Wizard of Oz-ian"...

Were you in Topeka during the "big one" in 1968?? That was a Doozie..My friend was staying with me and we saw her house get flattened (on tv).. She came for the weekend, and ended up staying almost a month..

26. Yes I was. F5 and about 13 smaller ones!
I stood outside at 17th and Fairlawn and watched that one flatten the town. My parents took off to see if it hit the business and when I got home I had no idea where my family was, it was very scary. Do you remember the video of the cars traveling down I 470 right in front of it? One of those cars had my friend in it. He was terrified.

My friend will most likely sell this, he makes a bundle off of postcard sales.
