As of this moment, I'm for Space Oddity. No doubt this will change by morning.

What's yours? If replies are numerous, a poll may result.

Under the God was a good Tin Machine tune.
Probably their only one, as Jump They Say was actually released on Black Tie White Noise, which wasn't Tin Machine (but same time period).

3. Fame.
Damn, but that song has a nice groove. Co-written by John Lennon, IIRC.

The Irene Cara song of the same title (different song) can suck it.

4. Putting Out Fire
Edited on Thu Aug-26-04 12:34 AM by xray s
The Lllllonnnnnnngggg version.

See these eyes so green
I can stare for a thousand years
Colder than the moon

Feel my blood enraged
It's just the fear of losing you
Don't you know my name
Well, you been so long

And I've been putting out fire
With gasoline

See these eyes so red
Red like jungle burning bright
Those who feel me near
Pull the blinds and change their minds
It's been so long

Still this pulsing night
A plague I call a heartbeat
Just be still with me
But it wouldn't believe what I've been thru
You've been so long
Well it's been so long

And I've been putting out the fire with gasoline
Putting out the fire
With gasoline

See these tears so blue
An ageless heart that can never mend
Tears can never dry
A judgement made can never bend

See these eyes so green
I can stare for a thousand years
Just be still with me
You wouldn't believe what I've been thru

Well you've been so long
It's been so long
And I've been putting out fire with gasoline
Putting out fire with gasoline

Putting out fire
We've been putting out fire
Well it's Been so long so long so long
Yes it's been so long so long so long
I've been putting out fire
Been so long so long so long
And putting out fire
Been so long so long so long
Yeah yeah putting out fire
Been so long so long so long
Been putting out fire
Been so long so long so long
Yeah putting out fire
Been so long so long so long
Putting out fire
Been so long so long so long
It's been so long
Been so long so long so long
It's been so long
Been so long so long so long
It's been so long
Been so long so long so long
I've been putting out fire
Been so long so long so long

Cracked Actor

Did I mention I own every Bowie album ever made?

Did I mention Bowie was my first concert, when I was five years old? Madison Square Garden, around 1975.

Bowie is one of those musicians I can't pick just ONE favourite song from. His ouevre contains so much great work I don't really think I can pare the list down any...

28. Well, I've always been partial to...
Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth.
You pull on your finger, then another finger, then the cigarette.
The wall-to-wall is calling, it lingers, still you forget.
You're a rock 'n' roll suicide.

You're too old to lose it, too young to choose it,
And the clock waits so patiently on your song.
You walk past a cafe, but you don't eat when you've lived too long.
You're a rock 'n' roll suicide.

Chev brakes are snarling as you stumble across the road;
But the day breaks instead, so you hurry home.
Don't let the sun blast your shadow,
Don't let the milk floats blind your mind;
So natural, religiously unkind.

Oh no, love, you're not alone.
You're watching yourself, but you're too unfair.
You've got your head all tangled up,
But If I could only make you care.
Oh no, love, you're not alone,
No matter what or who you've been,
No matter when or where you've seen.
All the knives seem to lacerate your brain.
I've had my share, I'll help you with the pain.

You're not alone!
Just turn on with me.
You're not alone!
Let's turn on and be
Not alone.
Give me your hand,
You're wonderful.
Give me your hand,
You're wonderful.
Give me your hand.

It's a good think the moranic right in this country didn't latch onto that song and get Bowie blacklisted. Trent Reznor's production is just a perfect match for Bowie's voice.

Sure, I was just kicking the thread. I wouldn't really do a poll for a couple of days; kind of counterproductive to have two Bowie threads running at the same time. Might do a Led Zep one in the meantime, though.
