Got My MS Clinicals Results This Morning!
The clinicals are a series of physical tests that allow a quantitative measurement of function.

They include things like walking on a 4*4, closing eyes and standing on one leg, small parts assembly to test for purpose tremors, hydraulic weight excercise against a strain gauge, applied force to see how well you resist, other balance exercises, and like that. There are also some cognitive tests that are done.

Well, the verdict: I have stayed at the same baseline function for over 7 years! No degradation in strength, balance, coordination, or motor skills! No evidence of tremoring (just like over 9 years ago when i was diagnosed) in any extremities! The cog tests indicate no loss of memory (short or long term) and no change in cognitive ability!

While they still can't do anything about the stiffness and pain the legs, and i'll be blind in my left eye forever from it, i was declared the most stable MS patient in the region!

Hey, i'll take good news wherever i can get it.
The Professor

12. Hey, Rich!
I am quite sure that they didn't mean mentally stable! It's just that the MS isn't changing. They COULDN'T have meant the former. That'd be impossible.

10. Great news Prof! I don't have access to that sort of thing
but I feel if I did, they would show I was pretty stable too. Most of my old symptoms have all but gone and I haven't had any new ones. Sometimes I look at my writing and I feel like it doesn't flow like it used to, so I try not to make complicated points ;-), which is kind of a drag (I hate appearing Bush-esque ;-) ), but as for physical things, everything is pretty damn good! I don't think I have any real serious cog problems, just some difficulty expressing myself on occasion.

I have every confidence that my MS will remain in check for the rest of my life.

13. Well, That's Equally Good News, Sioux!
I guess the sky isn't falling, after all. As bad as things seem with Li'l Georgie around, i guess they could actually be worse. (Hard as that is to imagine.)
