Wow, do I need a goddamned DU break

Love DU and I won't pretend I will be able to stay away from it, but my obsession with the Campaign 2004 blow-by-blow and the minutiae has really taken a toll on my psyche lately. I'm becoming a very cranky one-dimensional motherfucker.

It's critical work that folks are doing here, but if I follow these threads much longer without a rest, I'm going to go into a suffocating funk.

I wonder if I'll really be successful in taking a breather for a few days. Maybe I'll rediscover the joys of Metafilter.

Things I'll do to stay positive and active during the break: give some more money to the DNC, give some more buttons and bumperstickers away, keep the yardsign flying.

So I'm going to try to bag the obsessive/compulsive side of my political interest until after the RNC. Then maybe I'll be able to really contribute some positive personal energy to the final push.

p.s. - feel free to laugh in my face if I fail to take this break.
