Basketball fans: Your favorite DUNK of all time?
Edited on Thu Aug-26-04 01:08 PM by phillybri
I'll go with Dr. J's earth-shattering dunk on Michael Cooper's head against the Lakers in 1983.

It literally looks like Doc flies in from about 30 feet and just destroys Cooper.

Gives me chills every time I see it...

Update: I couldn't find a pic of that dunk, but here's another of the Doctor going behind the backboard to score on the Lakers.

4. You mean the dunk over Horace Grant?
The one that every Knicks fan in the world heralds as the second coming of Christ just because they need something to make them feel better about losing to Jordan and the Bulls every year?

That one?

;)

2. Vince Carter

Vince Carter's windmill versus the Bucks a couple years back was pretty awesome. I remember seeing replays of that over and over. The look at the elevation, the extension of the arm, how he kicks his legs... Beauty. He is definately the windmill master. Also loved the 360 windmill dunk at the 2000 Slam Dunk contest

I also love Kevin Johnson's dunk over Hakeem Olajuwon.

On edit: Also loved this one

5. Dr. J with Nets
Against the Nuggets in the 1975 ABA Finals. With one dunk, he destroyed the heavily-favored Denver teams and the Nets cruised to the Title. He seemed to take off from half court with a move that I saw from no one else again until MJ came onto the scene. Horrible and wonderful at the same time (being from Colorado and all).

Awesome hero of mine. Wish I had some pics. Sad that so few are on the net. First to shatter a backboard. First man to name his dunks. Awesome showboat. Much loved guy.

The Get out the wayin', back-door swayin', game delayin', if you ain't groovin' you best get movin' dunk,'

The 'Chocolate Thunder flyin', glass flyin', Robizine cryin', parents cryin', babies cryin', glass still flyin', rump roasting, bun toasting, thank you wham ma'am I am' jam.

The 'heart-stopper',

The 'rim-wrecker',

The 'left-handed spine-chiller supreme',

I could go on. He was a true showman.
