8. Dark Shadows was very popular with kids. At least where
I lived it was. But I get your point. It was not intended to appeal to children.

6. Winky Dink and You . . .
might have been the 50s, though . . . you had to send away for a kit that included a sheet of acetate that you stuck on your tv screen . . . then you'd follow the instructions during the show and draw on it to help Winky out of jams ("Quick, draw a bridge so Winky can escape!") . . . probably the first interactive tv show ever . . .

12. I lived in Los Angeles when I was a little kid in 1965...
and I loved to watch Hobo Kelly and Billy Barty. My sister and I had the chance to be part of the audience of the Billy Barty show. I was five, and my sister was eight. During the show, Hobo Kelly came on the set. I thought I was in heaven. My two heroes in the same place.

21. weird religious kid shows
I remember a claymation show called "Davey & Goliath", which I watched even though I'm Catholic, not Lutheran (and wasn't a very good Catholic at that). And I have the vaguest memory of a puppet show called "Through The Porthole", with a dog named Farfel and his puppeteer Danny O'Day that was also religious-oriented. I think the same duo also did Nestle Quick commercials ("N-E-S-T-L-E-S, Nestles makes the very best ---- chocolate"). I watched religious shows because I think there were only 2 TV stations in my town and there was nothing else on to watch on Sundays. Back then I would have even watched a test pattern instead of doing homework.
