People who make blanket assumptions about people based on where they live are little better than bigots. It's not OK to make fun of people based on where in the country - or in the world - they live.

I am a transplanted Californian who has lived in the South for 15 years. I am very happy here. The people in general aren't stupid, backward, or dirty. Yes, there are a few who are...just like there are where I grew up in California. People here are also generally polite, helpful, and bright...just like in California.

This person's attitude smacks of the "Indians all drive pickup trucks" and "Orientals can't drive" kind of crap we used to hear all the time but that, thankfully, has been put away by thinking people.

Please reexamine your regional prejudices. Take a trip, get to know some people, and come back better educated. </gripe>

You have long argued in favor of all things homosexual. You are not fooling me. You don't want it banned. You want all states to follow Massachusetts lead by having their courts decree it legal. That, or the federal courts can do it for them. All the FMA does -- as you know -- is make sure the courts can't mandate it. Legislatures are still free to do whatever they want, only they have to call it civil unions. It's the same thing and you know it. There is no difference between Vermont civil unions and Massachusetts gay marriages. The civil unions term just allows people to move around the country while respecting the choices of their new resident state.

But you will never acknowledge any of the above because your goal is to see homosexual marriage the law of the land -- at the federal level.
