I was dumbfounded today at Wal-Mart.
Yes, I shop there, if you don't like it, EAT ME! :P

Anyway, one of the stock guys is putting up...

Wait for it...

Christmas decorations. :wtf:

I asked the guy, "Don't you feel dumb putting those up now?"

Guy: "I just do whut da boss sez I do."

1. On a totally unrelated note:
You are in Sheboygan (sp?), aren't you, Archae? One of your local boys, Barry Schultz, won the Professional Disc Golf Association's World Championship last week in Des Moines.

Christmas in August? :puke:

12. Yup, here in Sheboygan.
Didn't hear anything about the Frisbee golf champion.

Heard LOTS about the PGA here.

2. Go by the boss or die.
When you have no money to pay for the food in our "individualistic" :eyes: society (that also outright lies when it says it supports freedom, people who think, or people once they exit the vagina), you die. It's as simple as that.

4. I think that would cause Christmas fatigue.
You start building it up early and it becomes progressively bigger and bigger. By the time Christmas day comes, you could care less.

5. Xmas decorations have been putup/gone on sale in July-Aug for a long time
some years ago when I asked about it, the manager said it was for people sending packages abroad and to the military.

I'm so old I remember Xmas decorations, packaging. etc., appearing for the first time the day after Thanksgiving.

6. Having had to work retail at certain points in my life
it is crazy but it's harder putting the stuff up later in the year when the stores are even more crowded.

Working retail can really suck so don't be too hard on the workers.

9. Xmas crap before Thanksgiving is extremely annoying.
I would never buy any of it on principle, just as I would never shop at Wal-Mart.

And the Wal-Mart issue is not a trivial or cute one with me.

10. So, you're defensive about shopping at WalMart...
But you're willing to put down some poor shlub who just happens to work there?

And you quote: "I just do whut da boss sez I do." Obviously, he's far beneath you in education, ethnic background & good taste.

13. I was imitating his speech pattern.
He sounded and looked like a teenager with hardly any brains.

Most of the time I see those saying, "Uh...you want fries with that?"

11. I sell china and tableware
We've had people asking for Christmas stuff since April. Some people actually want Christmas stuff up all year. It's nuts.

I've already wrapped at least a dozen Christmas-paper gifts this summer for customers.

16. That's too funny....
....BECAUSE - I was in WalMart yesterday and deliberately looking for Christmas decorations just for the hell of it. Last year I noticed them in the first week of September and I've been wondering when the hell they actually start putting them out.

20. Yeah, I've worked in da lovely world 'o retail before
They really love to rush the seasonal stuff. Summer stuff is on the sales floor in January or February. "Back to School" stuff comes out starting in mid-June (the darn kids just got *out* of school...why the heck do they want to think about back-to-school crap now?). Haloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are out in August.

Whatever.
