6. You don't know what your talking about
Maybe when you were taking post-secondary it was like that, but no more. I took journalism at Langara College. As well, I have friends beginning their teaching degrees there. They have academic courses too.

7. Yeah, I do
It's trade school.

To be a professional anything, you need a university degree.

College is lower level

Trade.

9. "Lower level" so you're an elitist eh?
You cna do two years at most colleges then do two years at university and come out with a degree, many of the courses are transferable.

16. That wasn't what I was arguing
I was saying that you could take courses not considered "Trades" at college.

Anyway, we could go on all night so fugitaboutit.
:-)

18. University is entry level
College is trade level, whatever you take.

Bricklaying, nursing, English, all are the same level at college.

Fuggedaboudit indeed.

10. I just went back to grad school
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 10:32 PM by Red_Viking
I received my undergrad degree from the University of Texas 13 years ago. Yes, I'm upset that the shrubs soiled my alma mater, but I digress. :P

After years of working for The Man, including a stint at Dell (ugh), I decided to live one of my dreams and go to law school. Now I can fight The Man instead. The decision ended up taking me and my daughter to Oregon. In the process, my boyfriend decided to go back as well, so we both just started our first year.

It's nice to be back at school, although I don't think this tour will be quite as rowdy as my first! Unfortunately. Yesterday, all the undergrad freshmen started. They look so young. It can't be that I'm older. They're definitely younger! Many of them looked not much older than my 13-year-old. Sigh. However, being an older student will help in my studies, I believe. I'll be far more focused than I was, and less likely to skip class so I can go drink beer in the park.

Peace out--

RV

missing from my transcripts, that were never taken.

BTW graduated in 1976 from S.U.N.Y. OSWEGO, in the same class year as Al Roker (he's in the yearbook).

19. Although I will retain many fond memories of good friends
Edited on Fri Aug-27-04 10:51 PM by noahmijo
I am graduating with my second degree this semester, and I can say I will look back fondly in a way, but overall I think I will consider college one of the worst times of my life due to the fact to me college was just mostly a never ending study study study all the freakin time, it just never goes away.

Oh sure you older folk may say "oh you think it's bad? just wait till you get a job!"

And I say oh I know working for the man won't be much fun, but here's the main part, I deal with 8 hours of bullshit, I get to go home and relax no homework no studying no bullshit, home and that's it.

In college it's non-stop 24/7 the fun doesn't end when you get home that's when it just begins not to mention you're paying them instead of the other way around.

No I'll look back on college and remember the good moments with friends and the cool teachers I had, but overall I won't be looking to go back.

20. it was hard work sometimes with a million papers to write,
but it was also a lot of fun. Lots of new and interesting people from many different cultures, art, music, bands to go see, books to read, cool professors, giant parties ( no one seems to have those anymore), no money ( but somehow that didn't really matter too much), drunken and impaired political and philosophical arguments into the wee hours, silly sexual liasons. And not knowing how it would all turn out! That was pretty cool.

Although one can still find some of those things in "real or work/life" if you look for it.
