Here's the newest addition to our family...Sid
Here's our newest family member. My son named him Sid. Of course, it's a juvenile iguana, so we won't be able to know its sex until it's a year old, but my kiddo decided that, if Sid turns out to be a female, he'll just name him Sidney. :-)

By the way, he may be green, but he isn't voting for anyone but Kerry. ;-)

4. Have you had iguanas before, jc? If not, get a good book on the care

and feeding of them. They need rather more care than a cat or dog.

I've got friends who do iguana rescue for the Humane society.... I've heard horror tales and would hate for your new friend to be subjected to the same.

Enjoy zim!

7. Yes, about twenty years ago, my SO and I raised one to...
adulthood. When he parted ways, he took the iguana, and I took the couch. :-)

Have been wanting one since. It is sad that some people don't realize that these cute little buggers will grow to nearly six feet in length. I have heard that many people literally abandon iquanas. That is so very sad.

I will take good care of him/her. I promise. :-)

I'd love one, but Mr. Pcat has a thing about reptiles. I'm not gonna push it.

6. Very cool...
when I was younger I had an Iguana named Fred...but we had to give him away. Turned out that Fred should have been named Fredrika because he was a she!

My roommate just purchased a bearded dragon yesterday, so it looks like some reptiles are finding some good homes lately.

11. I looked at a monitor lizard today...
but realized that, since a ten year old would be handling it, and since they bite and have a godawful bacteria in their mouths, it would be safer to go with the ig.

Plus, I don't think I could feed pinky mice to anything. :scared:

17. He has a dish full of collard greens and squash right now.
No bugs--he gets all of his nutrition from fruits and veggies.

And thanks for the compliment...I think he's quite a looker, too. ;-)
