I was there at the southeast corner taking stats. It was the first college football game I ever worked at. I feel so much more a part of the team now that I'm working at home games. It was real easy (moreso than when I was taking stats in HS), and I had a fun time doing it too. I'm gonna save my press pass and frame it.

Now I hope they'll let me walk on the sideline instead of keeping me penned up in the end zone area. That was the only downside. I felt kind of like a prisoner being forced to stay in the end zone area because my press pass said "END ZONE ONLY". Even the other student assistants were allowed to walk on the sideline. It's probably because my boss thought I'd be bothering all the players and coaches during the game, even though I wouldn't at all.

But at least it's a step up. And I'm happy.

1. Cool dude...
being on the sidelines for a football game is such a cool thing, and a great power trip (at least for me it is...and god forbid I get my hands on a walkie talkie!) Just keep your eyes open and know when to jump if a play goes on the sideline. I know someone who got nailed that way and she still has the bruises on her leg 4 years later.

2. That is very cool
Keep up the good work.
Were you just keeping stats or are you writing up the game?

I love walking the sidelines at a football game. It's such a great experience. You don't realize how hard the players are hitting each other.

One game like two years ago, I was on the sidelines and a guy caught a ball and the defender tackled him by the sidelines and they ran straight into me.

I didn't have time to get out of the way and the defender's helmet went right into my chest. Luckily, it was negative 10 degrees out and I had like 10 layers of clothes on. I got a small bruise. I was just very happy that I stood my ground. I didn't fell over or anything. HE hit me and I stepped back a little bit but that was hit. I was so proud.

Coaches write up the plays. That's the type of thing I was doing when I was an assistant HS coach.
