One flew east, one flew west...
I just finished One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

Jesus God, what a fantastic novel.

I guess I'm going to have to see the movie now.

2. You have to see the movie
I didn't know what "beaver" meant until I watched One Flew Over A Cuckoo's Nest. I thought that Jack Nicholson was talking about an animal the whole time until the end of the movie.

3. That's funny.
I didn't know what Bullgooselooney's handle was about until I read the book.

4. I have read it 3 times

Usually makes my favorites list every time in a book thread.

The movie is great, although it must be appreciated as a completely separate work, and not just an adaptation. It is based on the play more than the novel, and is told mainly from outside the Chief's POV. There are a few liberties with the basic plot too... some characters who died in the novel do not die in the film.

That being said, the ending is faithful, and that matters when it comes to adaptations.
