Can you use expresso as a substitute for coffee?
I have a huge bag of Expresso that a friend of mine gave me as a gift and I don't have an Expresso maker. Can I substitute it for Coffee and use more water to cut the strength down?

1. I have done that... I like strong coffee though....
I usually grind my beans on the espresso grind anyway.

2. Sure
One thing that gives expresso its strength is the fact that unlike most ground coffee, it is cut extra fine. Since I normally prefer finely ground dark French Roast, I find that a Cafe Bustelo or the like can also deliver a strong dark brew appropriate for my morning fare. If you prefer coffee less strong, then by all means, cut it with more water.

3. That's what Starbucks does
Unfortunately, to me, their coffee tastes burned.

I'd try to cut the espresso taste by adding regular roast beans and I would recommend an Arabica which will be lower in acid and caffeine (unless the bean is grown in volcanic soil).

Life without coffee is pretty dire.
