I'm so proud of my politically awakened SO
Here's a little story. I hope you don't find it super boring.

We've been talking about getting married. He knows I'm anti-diamond trade, so he was looking at a vintage ring on Ebay. The woman selling it was an Ebay neophyte, and didn't have any feedback. The SO was a little leery of dropping much cash on someone with no history, and there wasn't a lot of info on the ring either. He emailed her to get info on the ring and herself. She was selling her grandmother's ring to get money for her mom's medical expenses. She was pretty upset about selling a family heirloom, but I guess the mom is really sick and they really need the money. We also found out about where she lives, in Texas, and found out that Tom DeLay is her rep in Congress! (The internet is a wealth of information!)

Anyway, SO and I talked it over and decided against the ring. He emailed her back telling her he was no longer interested, and gave her some pointers for Ebay, that may help her re-list with more success (the first auction was a failure). He gave our best wishes to her and her mother. And then said that maybe she might think about contacting her rep Tom DeLay about universal healthcare!!
She never responded, but I'm just so proud!
