We really are all Bozos on this bus...
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 01:57 PM by teach1st
Being a hippie type, I am fascinated by the NYC protest video feed. From far away the throng is very moving in its size. Close-ups reveal some real Bozos. That's us! Individually, we're all a bunch of Bozos, partying and making some noise. Collectively we're a real force.

By the way, Fox News sux.

stereotypes. Sorry, I'm just being honest.

Wonderful, now there's a fire.

3. Why be annoyed!

You people? I'm my own hippie, thank you. I enjoy being myself. If that's a sterotype, it's somebody elses.

ON EDIT: Sorry about the subject. It's too harsh. What I think I meant was that we worry too much about what the freeper types think about us. I like the messiness of free spirits.

8. Freeper types are not the isse. Undecideds or those who's votes
could change are. And the sancitity of "the left". Jerry Falwell types are the reason some people are not proud or not willing to align themselves with the right. And nutty hippies and anti-Israel fuckwads are some of the reasons people don't want to be called liberals or leftists. Or dishevled, unpresentable looking hippies.

11. No disrespect intended
But hippies have the right to be heard. Or should we pretend to be straight and fashion conscious consumers just to win over the undecideds? Maybe we should just stay out of the way and hide.

The demonstration we're witnessing today is full of people who might turn off the undecideds. I've seen socialists and gays and rowdy young folks. Should we be silenced because we're not socially acceptable to the middle?

I'm don't feel the need to play to the fence sitters. Kerry is doing that. Bush is going there too. If the fence sitters haven't decided by now between the two, and especially if they're going to vote Bush because of a hairy armpit or two on the street, they're beyond saving.

It's the same as Bush toning down the religious right for the duration of the convention. It's hypocrisy.

2. yeah, keep it down
Banging drums and waving Che Guevarra flags doesn't turn people to our side or stop the war.

Don't break any windows. It would be great RNC propaganda.

4. I think you miss the point...
Bozo behavior by itself is bozo. But it's also human. Collectively it's a force. It did arguably help stop one war.

I don't like drums. I hate crowds. I've never worn a Guevera nothing. But unlike some in the DNC, I believe in a party that is big enough to include even the Bozos, even the tree-huggers, even the suits, even the police and fire fighters.

10. Actually, Tirebiter says:
... and you can believe me, because I never lie, and I'm always right.

One of my favorite ironic political statements.
