Need some Advice! Swimsuit help...
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 06:43 AM by Scooter24
Hey everyone...

Ok, I have a sort of stupid question and need some advice. I am taking an Intermediate Swimming and Diving course this semester (noncompetitive but still high in intensity for maximum fitness) and need to buy a new swimsuit. My question for all of you male college students or former college students that have taken swimming is: What suit will I be expected to wear? Would I be out of place in baggy shorts or should I wear a speedo? Will my shorts come off during diving?

The class doesn't start for another week but I'm starting to get a bit nervous about having to wear a speedo :P It's not that I can't eventually get over it, it would just be something new to get used to. I am in pretty good shape so it shouldn't be a "shocker" if I had to wear one..lol

This is probably a petty question, but I have been searching online and found some interesting suits from both categories. Any help or suggestions on what would be best or preferred? I'm guessing that performance should outweigh comfortability in this class

1. I think you should buy the Speedo,
but send pictures to me to make sure they fit appropriately. :-) And if you're worried about them coming off while diving, maybe I should be there to observe just in case. :-)

I was thinking the speedo too, but I wouldn't stop blushing if I was the only one...hehe

3. Hmm.
If it were just the swimming, I'd say you could get away with the trunks. However, depending on the kind of diving you'll be doing...there might be a little too much waistline drag, with trunks, for the higher-altitude dives. If you're doing bunny hops off the springboard, you should be fine. If you're doing platform or sky-high springboard stuff, trunks could definitely come off during entry, or at least slide down enough to require annoying readjustments before you climb out of the pool.

If you're in well enough shape to get away with the speedo, I say go for it.

4. Just ask the swim coach ...
I'm sure they've been asked that before and can recommend what you need.

And don't forget to post pix of yourself.
