Drunken man drives home with decapitated friend
http://edition.cnn.com/2004/US/South/08/30/man.decapitated.ap/index.html

MARIETTA, Georgia (AP) -- A drunken driver hit a telephone pole support wire that decapitated his passenger, police said.

He then drove 12 miles home and slept in his bloody clothes, police said, leaving the headless body in his truck.

A neighbor walking with his young daughter Sunday morning discovered Daniel Brohm's headless corpse in the truck in John Kemper Hutcherson's driveway and called authorities, said Cpl. Dana Pierce, county police spokesman.

Officers said they found Hutcherson asleep inside his home, visibly drunk and his clothes bloody, and later found Brohm's severed head at the crash site.

"It's hard for one to imagine that you would drive miles from a crash site to your home, turning in various directions, and yet not know what has happened to a passenger sitting next to you," Pierce said.

2. And yet, alcohol is legal and pot is not.
The War Against Some Drugs really makes a lot of sense.

3. This was reported on our evening news last night!
The two guys had stopped at the bar Sat. evening and both got sloshed. I sometimes feel the law is coming down too hard on DUI's, but this story blew my mind! If you are THAT drunk, how the he** did he even find his way home? I hope they hit thins guy with the max!

5. I would hate to be either one of them
The driver will go to jail, I am sure, but that will be the least of his punishment.

Something tells me denial is how he managed to drive home and remain seemingly unaware of what had happened...

Sad sad sad.

13. It is easy to black out and still drive home
He may have flash memories of what happened
and then he might not. And while he is certainly
totally fucked because he must be made to pay, his biggest crime might be the misfortune of out-of-control alcoholism.

If I ever once got behind the wheel of a car after drinking,
I would stop drinking. I am not sure every man has
that option.

12. This guy will get his license back
and do time served. That is my prediction.

When Mike Brady, an ultra marathon cyclist in Missouri was killed by a guy with 14 previous moving violations by driving into him on a state highway while searching a MacDonald's bag for fries, the killer was back in a car in a year.

The district attorney trying the case said that as long as you chose the right weapon, homicide was legal in Missouri.

14. My daughter was doing ambulance runs on the Saturday before
Memorial Day (she's an EMT) and out of twelve runs, three were for drunks. All of them were not only unconscious but totally unresponsive to painful stimulus, which is a hard pinch to the muscle between the shoulder & neck. One of these gentlemen was actually at work, an auto repair shop - slumped down against the wall.

16. i doubt, since they did not find this mess until hours later
they will be able to charge him with dui...that takes a blood test or breathaliser at the time of-uh-impact, or thereabouts, while he's still at the scene or under police observation...i think it's unconstitutional
i hope he sees pics of what he did though...
