I was pissed when a previous LTTE writer said that Bush experienced more danger by flying airplanes in Texas than Kerry faced in 4 months of Vietnam.
My retort of that letter was finally published:
Bush campaign uses smear tactics againA recent letter said Bush spent more time in a life-threatening situation flying at 500 mph during three years in the National Guard than John Kerry did in four months in Vietnam. I'm curious: How many enemy planes were flying over Texas shooting at Bush's plane while he was flying?
I didn't realize what a dangerous combat zone was in Texas. I guess Bush was under deep secret cover when he transferred to the Alabama National Guard and that's why there is hardly any record of him showing up for service.
The basic facts are simple: Kerry volunteered and served in Vietnam. Bush used his family influence to get out of going to Vietnam and into the Texas Air National Guard. Since the Bush administration and its supporters know they can't compete when it comes to military records, the Bush regime smears Kerry.
They're experienced at this because these are the same tactics used against former prisoner of war John McCain in the 2000 South Carolina primary and triple amputee Max Cleland during his re-election campaign for Senate in Georgia.
If Bush is qualified to be president, then he should campaign on what he has done the past four years. (PS - for some reason they chopped off the last sentence - but the rest is intact. )
